Job summary

Thomas & Reed, LLC is seeking a Technician Level 2 to support automotive chassis dynamometer testing, sensor installation, and instrumentation setup. The role emphasizes hands-on testing, data capture, and parts changes under supervision.

Responsibilities include high-temperature testing, offsite prep in extreme conditions, and collaboration with engineers on road tests and weather-related trials. Travel and overtime are required; a two-year electronics or automotive background is expected.

Qualifications

• Two year degree in electronics or automotive background.
• Experience with data acquisition hardware and software.
• Welding/fabrication skills.

Responsibilities

• High temperature chassis dynamometer test and prep.
• Assist with installation of thermocouples on a wide variety of automobile components, installing harnesses, data acquisition and vehicle mockup using prototype parts (this will be 90% of time).
• Assist in part changes during chassis dynamometer testing.
• Hot weather field testing.
• Prepare vehicles for offsite testing in extreme temperature locations, including installation of new parts, thermocouple installation, data acquisition, installation and pre-test equipment checks.
• Assist engineer with test by driving or operating data acquisition on public roads.
• Make part changes for testing as needed.
• Water fording test and setup.
• Prepare for test by using setup sheet and installing instrumentation as necessary.
• May be asked to perform testing after proper training.
• Snow ingress prep and test, including part changes and tests.
• Electronics capability of designing, constructing and repairing wire harnesses for testing; maintaining test equipment.
• Assist with other testing and vehicle preps as needed.
