Technibus, Inc. is seeking a Technician II - Structured Cabling to lead a small team of installers, coordinate daily workload, and uphold safety and quality standards while delivering projects on time.

You will install work area outlets, mount racks, perform cable testing, identify active circuits, train crew members, and complete all required paperwork. A High School diploma and 2+ years in telecommunications are required, with ability to lift up to 50 lb and travel as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Lead a crew of installers to complete daily workload.
  • Install outlets, racks, and patch panels with proper labeling and safety.
  • Perform testing and troubleshoot cable continuity, opens, shorts, and miswires.
  • Identify active voice or data circuits and document results.
  • Complete paperwork accurately (timesheets, work orders, transfers).

Job description

Job Summary

The Technician II - Structured Cabling must be able to perform the technical responsibilities of a Cable Installer and function as a lead member of a technical team. The Technician II - Structured Cabling will coordinate small groups of installers in the performance of daily workload including adherence to Company safety and quality standards.

Job Duties and Responsibilities
  • Install a work area outlet for floor or wall (terminate CAT 3 & CAT 5 jacks, mount face plates and surface mount boxes correctly, adhere to IES COMMERCIAL labeling standards).
  • Build closets (mount and install backboards, cross connects, racks, patch panels, fiber optic and hardware), install grounding for racks, equipment and cable as required, complete all IDC connections (e.g., terminate 110/66 blocks and patch panels).
  • Perform testing: continuity test horizontal and riser cable; use of volt‑ohmmeter; troubleshoot opens, crosses, shorts, and transpose pairs on horizontal and riser cable.
  • Identify active voice or data circuits.
  • Assume responsibility for effective performance of crew and provide necessary training, coordinate personnel and timeline to complete project.
  • Willfully complete all IES Communications paperwork accurately and on time (timesheets, material transfers, work orders, change orders, tool transfers and others as required).
  • Adhere to and participate in all Company, customer and industry quality and safety standards and regulations.
  • Complete other responsibilities as assigned.
Salary

USD $20.00 /hr – USD $34.00 /hr.

  • Can work at heights, on a ladder and in confined spaces, lift up to 50 pounds and move up to 75 pounds.
  • Endures long periods of standing, walking, or working in inclement weather and has sufficient physical strength and agility.
  • Can see and distinguish different colors, read small print and hear & recognize audible signals such as dial tones.
  • Can travel within the branch territory and/or regional territory as needed.
  • Maintains regular attendance.
  • Has adequate transportation to get to the jobsite.
Tools
  • Screwdriver (regular and Phillips), drywall saw, torpedo level, tape measure, snips (with belt sheath), pliers (needle nose and channel locks), hammer, wrench set, cable stripper, flashlight and gloves.
  • Trade tools: punch tool with 110 block and 66 block blade, 6/8 position combo crimp tool.
Education, Certification, License, and Skill Requirements
  • High School diploma or GED equivalency.
  • Minimum two (2) years of experience in telecommunications or related technical field and demonstrate ability to supervise others.
  • Proficiency with the listed tools.
  • Proven skill level to interpret blueprints and other project documents, including specifications, reporting, and quality requirements.
  • Knowledge of universal communications color codes.
  • Meets Company minimum driving standards.
  • License required: No.

2–4 years.
