Job summary

Accelleron’s Bolingbrook REMAN Center seeks a hands-on technician to support Phase 1/2 remanufacturing of turbomachinery and associated components. You will dismantle, clean, inspect, and reassemble parts using manual and automated processes in a collaborative, safety-driven environment.

You'll work with various Accelleron teams to ensure quality and on-time delivery, leveraging tool knowledge and mechanical experience in a dynamic, international setting.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or GED required.
  • Background in engines or similar mechanical systems is a plus.
  • Prior remanufacturing experience is a plus.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills; able to work in cross-functional teams.

Responsibilities

  • Disassemble, clean, and assemble turbomachinery components following instructions.
  • Contribute to Phase 1 or Phase 2 production activities focusing on safety, quality and on-time delivery.
  • Use hand tools, torches, cranes and cleaning/abrasive equipment in daily work.
  • Maintain a clean, safe work area and participate in continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Collaborate with Accelleron teams to improve communication and productivity.

Using manual and automated processes you will take part in the dismantling, cleaning, Quality and or Assembly of turbomachinery and associated components for all turbocharger families supported by the station. This role involves collaboration and communication with various Accelleron teams and departments to foster a culture of safety, innovation and improvement, ultimately leading to increased productivity, quality and customer satisfaction.Production:Work according to working instructions and adhere to regulatory and company OHS policy and ensure colleagues performing Phase 1 and or Phase 2 activity work to the same standard, with a focus on safety, quality and on time deliveryUse of hand tools, oxygen/acetylene torch, overhead crane and pneumatic/hydraulic toolsUse of manual abrasive media cabinets, automated abrasive media cabinets and automated wheel blasting machinesUse of ultrasonic and standard industrial tank cleaners, conveyor parts washers and rotary immersion machinesUse of Smart Electronic hand tools / automated torque devicesPreform daily pre-use checksMaintain a clean and proper working environmentParticipate in division and local training programsAdapt to changing requirements, timelines and expectationsSystem:Use of laptop and tablet to access trainings hosted via company intranetUse of Microsoft Office for email, Teams communication, SharePoint and Forms/Power AutomateUse of digital time clock and digital time reporting softwareUse of digital job board for tracking status of Phase 1 and or Phase 2 activitiesContinuous Improvement:Contribute to development of Phase 1 and or Phase 2 activity risk assessmentsParticipate in workshops to discuss opportunities for improvement, both from a process and technology standpointCollaborate with other Accelleron Teams to find methods of increased communication and transparency between cross-functional areasHealth, Safety, and Integrity:Follow both independently, and within teams, company guidelines on HSEParticipate in reporting of hazards, near misses and incidentsContribute positively to company safety cultureAdhere to the Accelleron Code of ConductEducation and Requirements:High School diploma or GEDWorking knowledge of turbochargers is a plusBackground in engines or similar mechanical systems is a plusPrior experience with industrial machinery and tools is a plusPrior experience with remanufacturing is a plusStrong interpersonal and communication skillsAbility to work and contribute within cross-functional teamsSkill using Microsoft Office productsPhysical & Other Demands:Stand or Sit: Must be able to remain in a standing position 80% of the time to perform various functions of the job machinery and tools is required.Walk: Walk and move about on foot often through uneven surfaces.Use hands/fingers to handle or feel: Constantly use hands/arms to operate various equipment, including hand and power tools and industrial machinery. Must be able to handle objects of various size. Must be able to extends hands and arms in any direction.Stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl: Bends body downward and forward by bending at knees or waist.Talk/hear: Ability to communicate information and ideas so others will understand. Must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations. Communications by phone and in person. Hears well enough to discern mechanical problems for safety in and around workspace and to receive communication by phone and in person.See: Ability to observe details at close range (within a few feet of the observer).
