Job summary

GRAND RIVER DAM AUTHORITY (GRDA) is seeking a Grounds Technician to maintain outdoor areas and assist with seasonal tasks at the Ecosystems Center in Langley, Oklahoma. The role involves mowing, planting, irrigation monitoring, and equipment operation, with emphasis on safety and environmental stewardship.

The position requires a high school diploma or equivalent, at least 2 years in groundskeeping, and a valid Oklahoma driver’s license.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent; vocational/tradeschool preferred.
• Minimum of 2 years of experience in groundskeeping, landscaping, or related field.
• Valid Oklahoma driver’s license, or ability to convert within 30 days for those with an out-of-state license that are an Oklahoma resident.
• Obtain Spray Licenses within first year.
• Maintain CEU’s for Spray License.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine landscaping tasks such as mowing, trimming, edging, pruning, and planting.
• Maintain flower beds, trees, and shrubs with proper watering, fertilizing, and pest control.
• Monitor irrigation systems, ensuring proper functioning and scheduling.
• Keep walkways, parking areas, and outdoor spaces clear of debris, leaves, snow, and ice.
• Operate lawnmowers, trimmers, and leaf blowers; safely use other equipment.
• Repair and maintain roads, cement pads, and related structures; power wash restrooms and surfaces.
• Attend quarterly safety meetings and training classes.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

The Grounds Technician is responsible for maintainingthe exterior grounds of the facility, ensuring a clean, safe, andaesthetically pleasing environment. This role includes routinelandscaping, lawn care, and outdoor maintenance tasks. The GroundsTechnician will also assist with seasonal duties and collaborate withother maintenance staff to ensure the property is well-maintained.Essential Duties:Perform routine landscaping tasks such as mowing, trimming,edging, pruning, and planting.Maintain flower beds, trees, and shrubs, ensuring properwatering, fertilizing, and pest control.Monitor and maintain irrigation systems, ensuring properfunctioning and scheduling.Keep walkways, parking areas, and outdoor spaces clear of debris,leaves, snow, and ice.Perform routine inspections of outdoor equipment and reportmaintenance needs or repairs.Safely operate a variety of tools and equipment, including lawnmowers, trimmers, and leaf blowers.Operate heavy equipment such as Man lift, Back-hoe, Dump Truck,Skid Loader with attachments, or other equipment used in theconstruction, repair, or maintenance of GRDA facilities.Ensure proper disposal of waste and recycling materials followinglocal environmental regulations.Apply insecticides, pesticides, and other pest control treatmentsinside the facility and on the grounds.Remove debris, leaves, and other obstructions from buildingroofs, gutters, and drains.Perform power washing of restrooms, balconies, decks, and othersurfaces.Repair and maintain roads and gravel bars.Prepare and install cement pads for structures or equipment,ensuring proper leveling and durability.Install, repair, and maintain cement pads and picnictablesAttend and participate in quarterly safety meetings and trainingclasses.Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned.Skills, Knowledge, Qualities:General knowledge of handling herbicides.Ability to safely operate landscaping equipment andtools.Basic knowledge of plant care, lawn care, and irrigationsystems.Strong attention to detail and the ability to workindependently.Good communication skills and a team-oriented mindset.Education and/or Experience:High School diploma or equivalent required, vocational/tradeschool preferred.Minimum of 2 years of experience in groundskeeping, landscaping,or related field required.Certificates, Registrations, Licenses:Valid Oklahoma driver’s license, or the ability to convert within 30 days for those with an out of state driver’s license that are an Oklahoma resident.Obtain Spray Licenses with in first year.Maintain CEU’s for Spray License.Physical/Mental Requirements & Working Conditions:Must be able to lift, move and carry weights of 50 lbs. on aregular basis.Must be able to perform work outdoors in all types of weatherconditions.Required to bend, stoop, perform above shoulder work and workwith arms extended.Ability to stand, walk, and perform outdoor labor for extendedperiods.Physical ability to perform tasks that require working at heightsand in various weather conditions.Other information:Must be 18 years of age or older.Work is performed primarily at the Ecosystems Center in Langley,Oklahoma with occasional travel to other GRDA facilities asneeded.Compensation will be commensurate with experience andqualificationsHighly competitive benefits packageIf you’re passionate about growth, teamwork, and making an impact, you’ll love building your career with us.
