Job summary

Microchip Technology Inc is seeking a motivated individual for the Technician I – Manufacturing (SMT Operator) role. You will operate SMT equipment, assist with setup and maintenance, and support PCB assembly to meet quality standards. Training provided for candidates with the right aptitude.

The position runs Monday–Friday, 7:00am–3:30pm, in a collaborative, safety‑conscious environment with strong career growth potential and comprehensive benefits.

Qualifications

• Basic mechanical or machine operation aptitude and willingness to learn new processes.
• No prior electronics manufacturing experience required; training provided.
• Good hand-eye coordination and ability to follow written instructions.

Responsibilities

• Operate automated SMT equipment and support machinery used in PCB assembly.
• Set up machines, load programs, and perform routine maintenance.
• Monitor production flow and conduct basic inspections for quality.
• Assist in identifying and resolving simple equipment or process issues with guidance.
• Follow SOPs and keep the work area safe and organized.
• Collaborate with team to improve efficiency and processes.

Job Description:

Are you mechanically inclined or tech-savvy and looking to build a career in electronics manufacturing? We’re seeking motivated individuals with basic mechanical or machine aptitude who are eager to learn and grow with hands-on training—no prior SMT or electronics experience required!

The Technician I – Manufacturing (SMT Operator) plays a key role in operating and supporting machinery used in the assembly of electronic components onto printed circuit boards (PCBs). You'll work with a team to ensure products meet quality and performance standards.

Key Responsibilities:

• Operate automated manufacturing equipment such as solder paste printers, reflow ovens, inspection tools, and other machinery used in the SMT process.
• Set up machines, load basic programs, and perform routine maintenance to keep production running smoothly.
• Monitor production flow and perform basic inspections to ensure quality standards are met.
• Assist in identifying and resolving simple equipment or process issues with guidance from senior technicians or engineers.
• Follow written instructions, diagrams, and standard operating procedures to support accurate component placement and assembly.
• Keep your work area clean, organized, and safe.
• Work closely with team members to improve efficiency and processes over time.
• Follow all company safety and quality policies.

Requirements/Qualifications:

Experience / Education:

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Technical training, mechanical coursework, or related experience is a plus, but not required.
• No prior experience in electronics manufacturing needed—training provided for candidates with the right aptitude.
