The role involves field support activities such as installation, troubleshooting, preventive maintenance, and documentation. You will respond to service calls, comply with safety policies, and may travel to customer locations as needed.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED preferred.
  • 0–2 years of general work experience.
  • Experience with ITS, communications, networking, fiber optic, or electronic systems preferred.
  • Equivalent education, training, and experience may be considered.
  • Valid driver's license and driving record meeting requirements.
  • Ability to safely perform work at heights, including heights over 50 feet.
  • Basic knowledge of electrical, electronic, networking concepts.

Responsibilities

  • Perform on-site servicing, installation, troubleshooting, maintenance, and repair of customer equipment.
  • Install, configure, maintain, and repair electronic equipment and firmware upgrades.
  • Respond to maintenance requests and system alarms within established timeframes.

TransCore (TCI), a subsidiary of ST Engineering, is currently hiring 2 ITS Technician I positions in Orlando, Florida.
Job Summary:

The Technician I performs on-site or in-house servicing, repair, and/or installation of customer equipment. This position may include field support activities such as installation, troubleshooting and repair of electronic equipment and wiring, installation and configuration of component systems/firmware, including upgrades, modifications and programming, preventive maintenance activities, and documentation.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

The essential duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned:

  • Perform on-site servicing, installation, troubleshooting, maintenance, and repair of customer equipment and related systems.
  • Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on Microsoft Windows and Linux-based hardware, video surveillance and detection equipment, radar/LIDAR/magnetic detection equipment, network communications equipment, and fiber optic, Wi-Fi, and radio systems.
  • Install, configure, maintain, and repair electronic equipment, wiring, component systems, firmware, and associated hardware, including upgrades and modifications.
  • Respond to maintenance requests, service calls, and system alarms within established timeframes.
  • Perform module and printed circuit board (PCB) replacements and isolate faults in units and components.
  • Conduct field testing and verification of equipment and systems.
  • Complete reports, logs, work orders, and other documentation related to maintenance activities, system status, and technical issues in accordance with established policies, procedures, and local practices.
  • Maintain spare equipment, tools, inventory, and replacement parts in accordance with established guidelines.
  • Comply with all applicable safety policies, procedures, and operational requirements.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements and Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or GED preferred.
  • 0-2 years of general work experience
  • Experience with ITS, communications, networking, fiber optic, or electronic systems is preferred but not required.
  • An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities may be considered.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to maintain a driving record that meets TransCore's driving requirements.
  • Ability to safely perform work at heights, including heights exceeding 50 feet, with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • Basic knowledge of electrical, electronic, networking, or related technical concepts preferred.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and resolve routine equipment and system issues.
  • Ability to learn new technologies, tools, and processes.
  • Ability to use hand tools and work with electronic components and equipment.
  • Strong attention to detail, organizational, and documentation skills. Ability to communicate effectively and work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions, policies, procedures, and safety requirements.
