Job summary

TransCore in Tampa, FL seeks an ITS Maintenance Technician II to install, service, repair and maintain customer equipment on-site and in-house. You will troubleshoot electronic toll collection systems, RFID and traffic control devices, and perform preventive maintenance.

The role requires strong hardware/software troubleshooting, ability to read schematics, and a valid driver's license for travel to job sites. You will document work, support field staff, and operate company vehicles as needed.

TransCore (TCI), a subsidiary of ST Engineering, is hiring an ITS Maintenance Technician II; to join our team in Tampa, FL.

Summary:

The Technician II performs on-site or in-house servicing, repairing and/or installation of customer equipment. This job may include any aspect of field support including installation, troubleshooting and repair of electronic equipment and wiring, installation and configuration of component systems/firmware, including upgrades, modifications and programming; preventive maintenance actions; documentation.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Performs installation and preventive and corrective maintenance of equipment, including Microsoft Windows- and Linux-based hardware, video surveillance and detection equipment, radar/LIDAR/magnetic detection equipment, network communications equipment, and fiber optic, Wi-Fi, and radio equipment.

Completes reports and logs and performs shift-to-shift communications in accordance with established policies, procedures, and local practices.

Responds to corrective maintenance requests or alarms within established timeframes.

• Diagnose and repair hardware, software, and system issues.
• Report on the technical status of the system with accuracy and completeness.
• Restore equipment to operational status as quickly as possible.
• Performs Module or PC Board swap out.

Isolates faults in units, systems, and components.

Conducts field testing of units and components.

Maintains spare equipment and parts inventory in accordance with established procedures.

Assists in the training and mentoring of less experienced technicians

Operates company vehicles as required to travel to work sites and perform assigned job duties.

Requirements and Qualifications

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below represent the knowledge, skills, and/or abilities required.

High school diploma or GED preferred.

• Typically requires a minimum of 2 years of related experience.

Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license and an acceptable driving record throughout employment.

Ability to work at heights in excess of 50 feet.

• Experience with electronic toll collection systems, RFID, ANPR, or traffic control devices is highly desirable.

Advanced troubleshooting and repair skills involving hardware and software systems.

• Proficiency with networking concepts, including TCP/IP and communication protocols.
• Ability to read and interpret complex schematics and technical documentation.
• Strong communication and organizational skills.

Desired Skills:

FDOT-approved Maintenance of Traffic (MOT) certification preferred.
