Job summary

Instrata is seeking a skilled cable installer to join our telecom and network projects in Chandler, AZ. The role involves installing, terminating, testing, labeling and documenting a variety of low voltage cables including twisted pair, CAT-6, fiber, and coax, with attention to safety and standards compliance.

The candidate will work with cable trays, racks and telecom closets, build out equipment rooms, perform fire-stops and ensure quality documentation.

Qualifications

  • Must have 2–5 years of experience installing cabling and related equipment in Telecom systems, CCTV, access control and wireless solutions.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and ability to interpret written and verbal instructions.
  • Proficient in using small hand tools and power tools.

Responsibilities

  • Install cable pathway systems (trays, racks, J-hooks, D-rings).
  • Terminate, test, label and document horizontal and backbone cables.
  • Dress and route cables in telecom closets and work areas.
  • Build out telecom and equipment rooms.
  • Fire-stop cable penetrations where required.
  • Test, troubleshoot and document cabling test results.

Job Summary:

Installs various cable that includes but is not limited to twisted pair cable, coax, power limited tray cable, stranded cable, solid conductor low voltage cable, CAT-6, CAT-5, single mode fiber optical cable & multi-mode fiber optical cable. Cable installation includes placement, termination, testing, labeling & documentation.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Install cable pathway systems (cable trays, cable racks, J-hooks or D-rings).
  • Install, terminate, test, label & document horizontal, backbone & other cables.
  • Dress & route cable into telecom closets, modular furniture & other work area outlets.
  • Build out telecom & equipment rooms.
  • Fire-stop various types of cable penetrations.
  • Test, troubleshoot, & document test results for cabling.
  • Possess working knowledge of ANSI/TIA/EIA cabling standards & National Electric Code.
  • Understands, adheres to, & promotes Environmental, Health & Safety policies.
  • Report any project scope changes, issues, or concerns to assigned contacts.
Job Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Must have the ability to install, terminate & test low voltage cables & fiber optical cables (to include twisted pair cable, coax, power limited tray cable, stranded & solid conductor low voltage cable, single mode & multi-mode fiber optical cables).
  • Ability to follow written & verbal instructions.
  • Must have a strong mechanical aptitude
  • Must be able to use small hand tools and power tools.
Education and Experience:
  • High School Diploma/GED or equivalent combination of education, training, and work experience.
  • Must have 2 to 5 years of experience in the installation of cabling & electronic devices associated with Telecom Systems, TCP/IP Networks, CCTV Security, Access control & Wireless Solutions.
  • Strong working knowledge of ANSI/TIA/EIA cabling standards & National Electric Code.
Physical Requirements:
  • Heavy physical effort (usually lifting/moving up to 100 pounds).
  • Climbing of stairs, ladders, and/or scaffolds with and without loads.
  • Ability to work from heights such as man lifts, scissor lifts & rooftops, utilizing proper fall protection.
