Instrata seeks an experienced cabling installer to deploy and test low voltage cabling for telecom systems across facilities in the Chandler, AZ area. The role requires installing pathways, terminating cables, and building out telecom rooms while documenting all work performed.

The ideal candidate will be familiar with ANSI/TIA/EIA standards, NEC, and safety practices, with 3–5 years of telecom cabling experience and the ability to work in a physically demanding environment, including heights

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required or equivalent.
  • 3–5 years of experience installing cabling and telecom systems.
  • Strong knowledge of ANSI/TIA/EIA cabling standards and NEC.

Responsibilities

  • Install cable pathways and terminate/test cabling.
  • Dress and route cables in telecom rooms and work areas.
  • Build out telecom and equipment rooms.
  • Fire-stop various cable penetrations.
  • Test, troubleshoot, and document test results.
  • Follow ANSI/TIA/EIA standards and NEC.
  • Adhere to Environmental, Health & Safety policies.
  • Report scope changes and concerns to contacts.

Job description

Job Summary

Installs various cable that includes but is not limited to twisted pair cable, coax, power limited tray cable, stranded cable, solid conductor low voltage cable, CAT-6, CAT-5, single mode fiber optical cable & multi-mode fiber optical cable. Cable installation includes placement, termination, testing, labeling & documentation.

Job Duties and Responsibilities
  • Install cable pathway systems (cable trays, cable racks, J-hooks or D-rings).
  • Install, terminate, test, label & document horizontal, backbone & other cables.
  • Dress & route cable into telecom closets, modular furniture & other work area outlets.
  • Build out telecom & equipment rooms.
  • Fire-stop various types of cable penetrations.
  • Test, troubleshoot, & document test results for cabling.
  • Possess working knowledge of ANSI/TIA/EIA cabling standards & National Electric Code.
  • Understands, adheres to, & promotes Environmental, Health & Safety policies.
  • Report any project scope changes, issues, or concerns to assigned contacts.
Job Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Must have the ability to install, terminate & test low voltage cables & fiber optical cables (to include twisted pair cable, coax, power limited tray cable, stranded & solid conductor low voltage cable, single mode & multi-mode fiber optical cables).
  • Ability to follow written & verbal instructions.
  • Must have a strong mechanical aptitude
  • Must be able to use small hand tools and power tools.
Education and Experience
  • High School Diploma/GED or equivalent combination of education, training, and work experience.
  • Must have 3 to 5 years of experience in the installation of cabling & electronic devices associated with Telecom Systems, TCP/IP Networks, CCTV Security, Access control & Wireless Solutions.
  • Strong working knowledge of ANSI/TIA/EIA cabling standards & National Electric Code.
Physical Requirements
  • Heavy physical effort (usually lifting/moving up to 100 pounds).
  • Climbing of stairs, ladders, and/or scaffolds with and without loads.
  • Ability to work from heights such as man lifts, scissor lifts & rooftops, utilizing proper fall protection.
