The HVAC Service Technician installs and maintains heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and boiler systems. This position performs tests and analyzes data to ensure proper equipment functioning and provides recommendations to customers. The Technician monitors, evaluates, and troubleshoots operating equipment and controls to ensure safe operation and optimal performance.

Duties & Responsibilities:

1. Perform routine repairs to pump seals, bearings, etc.
2. Inspect and test systems to verify compliance with plans and specifications or to detect malfunctions.
3. Address customer concerns regarding HVAC and boiler systems.
4. Follow safety standards, policies, procedures, and maintain a clean work environment.
5. Discuss system malfunctions with customers to identify problems or verify resolutions.
6. Record faults, deficiencies, and unusual occurrences, including work order details.
7. Test pipes, tubing joints, or connections for leaks.
8. Adjust system controls based on manufacturer settings to balance the system.
9. Perform maintenance procedures such as cleaning, vacuuming, lubricating parts, or changing filters.
10. Install auxiliary components following blueprints, including valves, ducts, pipes, and dampers.
11. Coordinate with repair and maintenance teams for other tasks.
12. Install, connect, and adjust thermostats, humidistats, and timers.
13. Create work orders to address deficiencies.
14. Connect pipes or tubing to equipment and sources to complete circuits.
15. Assemble, position, and mount heating or cooling equipment per blueprints.
16. Study blueprints, specifications, and manufacturer recommendations for proper installation.
17. Cut or drill holes for equipment installation using power tools.
18. Measure, cut, and bend pipes/tubing with appropriate tools.
19. Fabricate or install ductwork or chassis parts using metal-working tools or welding equipment.
20. Other duties as assigned.

Required Education/Experience:

High school diploma or equivalent plus 5 years of documented HVAC operation, maintenance, and repair experience in HVAC and refrigeration trades.

• Knowledge of HVAC repairs, maintenance, installation techniques, electrical circuits, wiring, motor principles, and local electrical codes.
• Ability to communicate effectively, interpret blueprints and schematics, perform math, and diagnose problems.
• Physical ability to operate machinery and diagnostic tools, recovery equipment, hand and power tools, and HVAC equipment.
• This role involves stooping, kneeling, crouching, climbing, crawling, reaching, walking, lifting, grasping, feeling, repetitive motions, and carrying objects.
• Ability to exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and up to 20 pounds frequently.

Physical Demands:

This role is largely sedentary but requires some filing, lifting files, opening cabinets, and bending or standing as needed.

Work Environment:

Work occurs in both office and field settings. Ability to sit and/or stand for extended periods is necessary.
