Job summary

Hometown Pharmacy is seeking a Pharmacy Technician to assist pharmacists and technicians in daily operations. You will greet customers, input patient data, fill prescriptions, and help with inventory and store upkeep. The role emphasizes customer service, accuracy, and learning medication details.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED is required.
  • 1 year of pharmacy experience or technician training is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide excellent customer service.
  • Input patient data and medication orders independently as you learn.
  • Count, label, and package prescription drugs and supplies.
  • Submit prescriptions for third-party billing and learn troubleshooting.
  • Assist in ordering, stocking, and inventory of medications, OTC items, and supplies.
  • Perform general cleaning and store maintenance.
  • Work with the pharmacy team to learn patient care services.
  • Greet and assist customers in person and by phone, building relationships with regular customers.
  • Learn about commonly prescribed drugs, brand/generic equivalents, and therapeutic classes.
  • Learn about third-party billing and resolving issues.
  • Learn about OTC and front-end departments; basic register functions.

Job description

A Pharmacy Technician is responsible for assisting technicians and licensed pharmacists in operating a pharmacy. General duties include greeting and assisting customers in person and over the phone, entering and filling prescriptions, and cleaning and maintenance of the pharmacy department.

Responsibilities:
  • Provide excellent customer service
  • Learn to independently input patient data and medication orders
  • Count, label, and package prescription drugs and supplies
  • Submit prescriptions for third-party billing and learn how to trouble-shoot
  • Assist in ordering, stocking, and maintaining inventory of prescription medications, over-the-counter items, and necessary supplies
  • Perform general cleaning and store maintenance: filing paperwork, stocking items, keeping the store clean and professional-looking
  • Work with the pharmacy team to learn and understand patient care services
  • Provide excellent customer service: greet and assist customers in person and via phone, build relationships with regular customers
  • Gain knowledge of commonly prescribed drugs, brand/generic equivalents, and therapeutic classes
  • Gain knowledge about billing third parties and resolving third-party issues
  • Learn about over-the-counter and front-end departments; basic register functions

Education & Experience:
  • High school diploma or GED (required)
  • 1 year of pharmacy experience or training as a technician (preferred)
Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to stand for duration of shift
  • Ability to lift and carry up to twenty pounds
