Job Description

With more than 50 years’ experience in the crop protection industry, EAS offers a unique portfolio of expertise, providing extensive laboratory and field support across multiple industries including agrochemical, biopesticide, pharmaceutical, biocide, and fine chemical manufacturers.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

Job Duties:

  • Generates data from a variety of laboratory techniques and analytical instrumentation such as but not limited to, pH, analytical balance, sample preparation, etc.
  • Participates in studies as directed. Completes the necessary tasks associated with projects in designated areas.
  • Carries out routine experiments and procedures in accordance with all applicable regulatory requirements as defined by protocol, method, and standard operating procedures.
  • Maintains clean laboratory conditions which include, but is not limited to, cleaning glassware, emptying trash, mopping floors, etc.
  • Adheres to schedule according to Eurofins or contracting organization's timetable, and follows daily or weekly routines necessary to ensure on-time delivery.
  • Performs work in accordance with GLP principals and standard operating procedures.
  • Completes documentation legibly, timely, and accurately according to all regulatory requirements. Maintains and completes equipment log books. Appropriately documents all movement of materials during process of receipt, transfer, disposal, or archiving and distributes those documents as required.
  • Disposes of and separates waste liquids according to established practices complying with OSHA regulations and SOPs.
  • Communicates effectively and regularly with supervisor regarding timelines, project completion, and any issues that may arise.
  • Depending on area of assignment, is likely to be responsible for calibration of analytical instruments, maintaining storage units, maintaining lab supplies, and ensuring that equipment is available and in good working order.
  • Depending on area of assignment, may be required to move/transfer materials from one department to another; check-in/out materials as requested by study personnel; and examine materials received/delivered for safety, accuracy of shipment, and viability of content.
  • Depending on area of assignment, handles regulated materials (quarantined matrices, DEAcontrolled, and radiolabeled materials, etc.), potential biohazard materials, and toxic chemicals according to company procedures.
  • May be responsible for keeping samples organized in walk-in refrigerators or freezers. May be required to dispose of extracts under the direction of the principal investigator or study director.
  • As appropriate and based on area of assignment, may use software applications to track receipt, storage, use, expiration, disposal, return, and/or archiving of test materials.
  • May assist in quality check of spreadsheets and other data.
  • Performs other related duties as required and directed.

Qualifications

ESSENTIAL JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Education and Experience:
  • High School diploma or equivalent. College lab class experience is preferred.

  • Specialized Knowledge, Skills, or Training:
  • Knowledge of laboratory equipment commensurate with level of experience and assigned responsibilities. Knowledge of general office equipment, i.e. computers, printers, faxes, copiers, etc. Solid organizational skills. Good customer service skills.

  • Mathematical Skill:
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

  • Reasoning Ability:
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions. Able to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed written, oral, diagram, or scheduled instructions.

  • Computer Skills:
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Outlook and Excel is required. Knowledge of Word and PowerPoint is highly desirable.

  • Attendance:
  • Regular and reliable attendance is a requirement of this position.

  • English Language and Language Skills:
  • Must be able to read, write, comprehend, and speak English. Written documentation is legible and sufficiently fluent (in English) to be understood by others.

    Ability to read and interpret documents such as study protocols, standard operating procedures, safety policies, instrument operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals. Able to summarize data and results. Communicates verbally and in written format, effectively with coworkers.



    Additional Information

    Position is full-time, Monday-Friday, 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Candidates currently living within a commutable distance of Easton, MD are encouraged to apply. Compensation range: $18-20 her hour.
