Job summary

Arctic Air Conditioning, Heating, Cooling and Plumbing is seeking a skilled Generator Technician in New Jersey. This full-time role requires 3–5 years of hands-on experience servicing standby generator systems, strong diagnostic skills, and the ability to work independently on residential and light commercial sites.

Candidate should be proficient with Generac, Kohler, Briggs & Stratton, or similar brands, read diagrams, and pass a background/drug screen where required.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Perform preventative maintenance, inspections, and repairs on residential and light commercial generator systems
• Diagnose electrical and mechanical issues and recommend appropriate solutions
• Install, service, and troubleshoot automatic transfer switches and generator controls
• Conduct system start-ups, load bank testing, and operational testing
• Maintain accurate service records and documentation
• Communicate findings and recommendations clearly to customers
• Follow manufacturer specifications and company safety standards
• Collaborate with team members to ensure excellent customer service
• Drive to various job sites as required, ensuring timely completion of service calls

Role Overview

Arctic Air Conditioning is growing, and we're looking for a highly skilled, full-time Generator Technician to join our team! This is not an entry-level position. We're seeking an experienced professional with strong technical knowledge, excellent troubleshooting abilities, and a commitment to delivering outstanding customer service.

Here's What You Bring to the Table:

• Minimum 3-5 years of hands-on experience servicing, maintaining, and repairing standby generator systems
• Experience with Generac, Kohler, Briggs & Stratton, or similar generator brands preferred
• Strong electrical and mechanical diagnostic skills
• Ability to perform generator start-ups, preventative maintenance, and repairs independently
• Knowledge of transfer switches, fuel systems, and generator controls
• Experience troubleshooting residential and light commercial standby generators
• Ability to read wiring diagrams, schematics, and technical manuals
• EPA certification and electrical experience are a plus
• Valid driver's license and clean driving record

Schedule

• Monday to Friday, one weekend shift required
• Occasional on-call rotation one night per week
