Job description

OBJECTIVE:
Performs the tasks necessary to provide the best landscape maintenance service.

TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS:
Many of the job responsibilities will be conducted in exterior areas of the operation. Activities will be carried out in year-round weather conditions. Work will be conducted on stage and back stage environments, including smoking areas. Work hours will fluctuate depending on projects, daily tasks and emergency situations.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

1. Always be NICE to fellow staff and players; find every opportunity to offer a friendly smile, wave and greeting
2. Cuts and maintains lawns
3. Plants and maintains plants, flowers, trees and shrubs
4. Applies pesticides, fertilizers and other chemicals
5. Cleans and maintains tools and equipment
6. Uses a variety of landscape tools, both hand and powered, as directed
7. Understands and complies with federal, state and local regulations
8. Understands and complies with Facilities Department and Casino policies and procedures
9. Participate in related training programs provided by the organization

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Ability to communicate in English with fellow staff and guests.
Ability to follow directions.
Ability to maintain each area of responsibility at a premium “5-Star Level”.
Ability to follow a set routine, in an individual area.
Ability to use 36” walk-behind mower, 21” self-propelled mower, line trimmer, blower and all hand-held tools.
Ability to identify 25 landscape plants, 5 common weeds and 5 pests.
Understands fertilizer types and application.
Must have knowledge of pruning techniques for shrub plants and turf.
Able to maintain a weed and gopher eradication program.
Ability to read product information and safety labels.
Friendly and courteous personality.
Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
Able to work under general supervision.
Able to work 3 ½ hours without going to the restroom.

REQUIRED EDUCATION:
High School diploma or GED desired.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:
Minimum 2 years experience in the field or in a related area.
