This position is based inside an automotive repair shop, where the Field Technician will perform diagnostic scans, calibrations, and assist with virtual diagnostics. The role involves consulting with shops and promoting Repairify's diagnostic and calibration services.
Essential Functions
- Serve as the primary client contact during the service process
- Promote the importance of diagnostics and calibrations at the assigned shop
- Perform precise calibrations for all types of Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) across various vehicle makes and models
- Use OEM and aftermarket diagnostic tools to recommend repairs and calibrations
- Document pre- and post-vehicle calibration processes and prepare reports for customers
- Read and interpret measurements in standard and metric units
- Perform basic R/I procedures to access sensors and control modules
- Explain technical diagnoses and repairs to non-mechanical individuals
- Interpret technical data related to electrical components and ADAS
- Continuously update technical knowledge through training and e-learning
- Drive company or customer vehicles for testing or calibration purposes
- Build effective working relationships with repair facilities, insurance carriers, and other stakeholders
- Collaborate with other technicians on diagnostic test plans
- Adhere to all safety, environmental, and company policies
Minimum Qualifications
- 1-2 years of experience in a car dealership or aftermarket repair facility as an Automotive Technician
- Experience with OEM or aftermarket scan tools
- Knowledge of fault identification, error messaging, and module diagnostics
- Understanding of automotive mechanical and electrical diagnosis and repair
- Familiarity with automotive industry terminology and manufacturer acronyms
- Valid driver’s license and satisfactory Motor Vehicle Report (MVR)
- Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office
Preferred Qualifications
- Graduate of a technical college in automotive fields or equivalent
- Excellent written communication skills
- Certifications such as ASE, I-Car, MECP
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Work Environment
Inside an automotive repair shop that may be cold, hot, noisy, or wet, with fumes or odors from vehicle maintenance.
Physical Demands
- Lift up to 75 pounds independently
- Transport up to 75 pounds over 20 feet
- Stand for extended periods, perform reaching, stretching, and bending
- Use safety equipment such as face shields, goggles, gloves, masks, and protective clothing
- Drive vehicles and perform typing as needed
