Job summary

StandardAero, Inc. in Ohio is seeking a Thermal Spray Coating Technician to join our aviation repair and maintenance team. You will set up and operate spray systems to apply thermal spray coatings to parts, following exact formulas and sequences.

You will work with a team to implement proper processes, document procedures, and participate in continuous improvement while ensuring safety and quality in every step of the coating and finishing tasks.

Qualifications

• At least 1 year of experience operating machines and/or robotics.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
• Regularly sit or stand for extended periods.
• U.S. Citizenship or Permanent Residency.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate spray systems to apply Thermal Spray coatings to parts.
• Develop and follow spray recipes and sequences for spraying.
• Operate blasting equipment to clean and prepare surfaces.
• Prepare parts with fixtures and masking prior to coating.
• Set up and operate manual, semi-automatic and robotic spray systems.
• Inspect surfaces for defects and verify coating quality.
• Maintain spray/coating equipment and participate in process improvements.
• Cross-train with other technicians to support production requirements.
• Observe safety requirements and report unsafe conditions.

As a Thermal Spray Coating Technician, you'll set-up and operate spray systems to apply Thermal Spray coatings to parts.

What you'll do:

• Selects, prepares solutions or coatings according to formulas and specifications and creates spray recipes and sequences for spraying.
• Plans, develops, writes, revises, documents, tests, implements and controls programs for robots as applicable.
• Operates blasting equipment to clean and prepare the surface of materials and components.
• Prepares and masks parts with fixtures, rubber, tape, tafa, antibond or metal masks prior to coating.
• Sets up and operates various types of manual, semi-automatic and/or robotic spray systems to apply substances to parts.
• Removes masking, cleans overspray and washes parts.
• Inspects surfaces visually for defects and compliance with specifications using micrometers, calipers, elcometers, profilometers, or related devices prior to and after applying coating.
• Cleans and maintains spray/coating equipment, fixtures and blast cabinets.
• Participates in continuous improvement of cell processes.
• Cross trains in other complementary skills and seeks endorsements for those skills as needed to support production requirements.
• Moves between production assignments that utilize multiple skills endorsements as needed to support production requirements.
• Participates in the cross training of other technicians as needed to support production requirements.
• Responsible for observing all applicable safety requirements and reporting immediately any unsafe practices/conditions.
• Carries out other duties as assigned

Basic Qualifications:

• Must be an U.S. Citizen/Permanent Resident
• Minimum 1 year of experience in machine operating and/or robotics
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds (unassisted) for approximately 25% of the average work day.
• Regularly required to sit and/or stand for prolonged periods.
