Job summary

Standard Aero in North Kansas City, MO is seeking a Thermal Spray Coating Technician to support aerospace repair operations. You will set up and operate spray systems to apply coatings, interpret formulas, and help ensure product quality.

This role includes cross-training across production cells, maintaining equipment, adhering to safety standards, and continuous improvement initiatives. Shift options include 2nd shift and weekend 3x12, with on-the-job training provided.

Qualifications

• Must be a U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident.
• 1 year minimum experience in machine operation and/or robotics.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds (unassisted) for ~25% of the day.
• Regularly sit or stand for prolonged periods.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate spray systems to apply thermal spray coatings.
• Develop and follow spray recipes and sequences.
• Operate blasting equipment to clean surfaces.
• Inspect surfaces with precision instruments for defects.
• Maintain spray/coating equipment and blast cabinets.
• Participate in continuous improvement and cross-train others.
• Observe safety requirements and report hazards.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

As a Thermal Spray Coating Technician, you'll set-up and operate spray systems to apply Thermal Spray coatings to parts.

Available positions:

• 2nd Shift (4x10)
• Weekend Shift (Fri - Sun 3x12)

What you'll do:

• Selects, prepares solutions or coatings according to formulas and specifications and creates spray recipes and sequences for spraying.
• Plans, develops, writes, revises, documents, tests, implements and controls programs for robots as applicable.
• Operates blasting equipment to clean and prepare the surface of materials and components.
• Prepares and masks parts with fixtures, rubber, tape, tafa, antibond or metal masks prior to coating.
• Sets up and operates various types of manual, semi-automatic and/or robotic spray systems to apply substances to parts.
• Removes masking, cleans overspray and washes parts.
• Inspects surfaces visually for defects and compliance with specifications using micrometers, calipers, elcometers, profilometers, or related devices prior to and after applying coating.
• Cleans and maintains spray/coating equipment, fixtures and blast cabinets.
• Participates in continuous improvement of cell processes.
• Cross trains in other complementary skills and seeks endorsements for those skills as needed to support production requirements.
• Moves between production assignments that utilize multiple skills endorsements as needed to support production requirements.
• Participates in the cross training of other technicians as needed to support production requirements.
• Responsible for observing all applicable safety requirements and reporting immediately any unsafe practices/conditions.
• Carries out other duties as assigned

Basic Qualifications:

• Must be an U.S. Citizen/Permanent Resident
• Minimum 1 year of experience in machine operating and/or robotics
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds (unassisted) for approximately 25% of the average work day.
• Regularly required to sit and/or stand for prolonged periods.

Desired Skills:

• Experience with thermal spray coating
• Possess a strong mechanical aptitude.
• Proficient in the use of precision measuring instruments.
• Ability to read, understand and interpret blueprints.
