Job summary

StandardAero in Hillsboro, OH is seeking a Thermal Spray Coating Technician to set up and operate spray systems applying coatings to parts. You will contribute to team efforts to ensure flight-critical components meet quality standards and production schedules.

Responsibilities include selecting coatings, programming robots, blasting surfaces, masking, inspecting with gauges, and maintaining equipment. Must be a US citizen or permanent resident with at least 1 year in machine operation or

Qualifications

• Must be a US citizen or permanent resident.
• Minimum 1 year of experience in machine operating and/or robotics.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds (unassisted) for ~25% of the workday.
• Regularly sit and/or stand for prolonged periods.

Responsibilities

• Selects, prepares coatings per formulas and creates spray recipes.
• Develops and documents robot programs for spraying.
• Operates blasting equipment to clean surfaces.
• Masks parts with fixtures and masks prior to coating.
• Sets up and runs spray systems (manual/robotic).
• Inspects surfaces with gauges for defects and specs.
• Maintains spray equipment and participates in continuous improvement.

As a Thermal Spray Coating Technician, you’ll set-up and operate spray systems to apply Thermal Spray coatings to parts.

What You’ll Do

• Selects, prepares solutions or coatings according to formulas and specifications and creates spray recipes and sequences for spraying.
• Plans, develops, writes, revises, documents, tests, implements and controls programs for robots as applicable.
• Operates blasting equipment to clean and prepare the surface of materials and components.
• Prepares and masks parts with fixtures, rubber, tape, tafa, antibond or metal masks prior to coating.
• Sets up and operates various types of manual, semi-automatic and/or robotic spray systems to apply substances to parts.
• Removes masking, cleans overspray and washes parts.
• Inspects surfaces visually for defects and compliance with specifications using micrometers, calipers, elcometers, profilometers, or related devices prior to and after applying coating.
• Cleans and maintains spray/coating equipment, fixtures and blast cabinets.
• Participates in continuous improvement of cell processes.
• Cross trains in other complementary skills and seeks endorsements for those skills as needed to support production requirements.
• Moves between production assignments that utilize multiple skills endorsements as needed to support production requirements.
• Participates in the cross training of other technicians as needed to support production requirements.
• Responsible for observing all applicable safety requirements and reporting immediately any unsafe practices/conditions.
• Carries out other duties as assigned

Basic Qualifications

• Must be an U.S. Citizen/Permanent Resident
• Minimum 1 year of experience in machine operating and/or robotics
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds (unassisted) for approximately 25% of the average work day.
• Regularly required to sit and/or stand for prolonged periods.
