Job summary

Dauch Corporation seeks a Technician - CMM to program and operate PC-DMIS and Calypso systems, ensuring precise measurements for automotive components on-site in Detroit, MI. The role requires strong GD&T knowledge and the ability to interpret blueprints and specs.

You will manage multiple measurement projects, document results, and work with engineering, suppliers, and customers to resolve issues while maintaining safety and quality standards. Overtime may be required.

Qualifications

  • CMM programming using PC-DMIS and/or Zeiss Calypso software.
  • Strong knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects with dynamic priorities.
  • Associate Technical degree with relevant experience or equivalent experience.

Responsibilities

  • Utilize CMM using PC-DMIS and/or Zeiss Calypso to measure components to engineering requirements.
  • Write CMM programs and inspect parts per blueprints and specifications.
  • Interpret blueprints and technical documentation accurately.
  • Maintain inspection records (written, electronic, photographic).
  • Collaborate with management, engineering, suppliers, and customers to resolve issues.
  • Perform and certify inspections in accordance with technical documentation.
  • Aim for timely completion of tasks within aggressive schedules.
  • Maintain safety and housekeeping standards.

Job Description Summary

General Purpose of Position: The successful Coordinate Measuring Machine (CMM) Programmer is one that is conscientious, detail orientated, and a self-starter able to work from a verbal or written instruction. They are committed to quality, precision, and timeliness in their deliverables. These deliverables are achieved while maintaining a safe and organized working environment.

Job Description
  • Utilize CMM using PCDMIS and/or Zeiss Calypso CAD software and inspection equipment i.e., height gauges, micrometers, bore gauges, surface analyzer, etc to measure/layout complex components to engineering requirements.
  • Write CMM programs and program CMM using CAD models and/or blueprints to measure complex components to verify conformance to engineering specifications and standards.
  • Interpret and understand complex technical documentation such as blueprints and specifications.
  • Perform and certify inspections & tests in accordance with technical documentation.
  • Maintain inspection documentation (written, electronic and photographic).
  • Strong level of interpersonal/communication skills to work effectively with management, engineering, suppliers, and customers.
  • High level of problem-solving skills to identify/perform root cause analysis on machining and/or assembly issues and offer recommendations for resolution.
  • Successfully complete measurements and tasks on time to aggressive schedules.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

9. Able to manually lift and manipulate heavy objects (Up to 50 lbs). Ability to use lift assist devices for heavier objects.

10. Comply with all AAM safety policies and procedures.

11. Available to work overtime if required. This encompasses Saturday and Sunday.

12. Perform other duties as assigned.

13. Ability to work independently while exhibiting teamwork skills with co-workers and others.

14. Committed to maintaining excellent housekeeping and safety practices.

15. Proficient computer skills, especially in MS Office applications.

16. Must demonstrate flexibility on job assignments.

100% on-site (Not hybrid. Not remote)

Required Skills and Education
  • CMM programming with PC-DMIS and/or Zeis Calipso software and inspection layout.
  • Available to work overtime if required. This encompasses Saturday and Sunday.
  • Strong knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects with dynamic priorities.
  • Minimum 5 years experience in automotive, aerospace or prototype manufacturing operations is a plus.
  • Associate Technical degree plus at least 2 years' experience in a mechanical or electronics related field or high school diploma plus at least 5 years' experience in a mechanical or electronics related field.
