Job summary

Dauch Corporation is seeking a 3rd Machine Line Team Lead to drive safety, productivity and quality across the machine line. You will coach and rotate Machine Line Specialists, ensure adherence to SOPs and work instructions, and collaborate with supervisors to implement continuous improvement initiatives.

You will monitor staffing, conduct cross-line meetings, and lead efforts to reduce scrap and improve process efficiency while maintaining a motivational climate for continuous improvement

Responsibilities

• Oversees that safety, productivity, quality and 5S are implemented.
• Lead and rotate Machine Line Specialists; train and develop the team.
• Monitor procedures: SOPs, work instructions and maintenance instructions.
• Maintain staffing, plan changes for minimum disruption and ensure accurate reporting.
• Conduct meetings across lines/shifts to improve productivity and scrap reduction.
• Ensure supply status, inventory levels and safe operation throughout the line.

Job Description Summary

The Machine Line Team Leader assists the Machine Line Supervisor and the Machining Operations Manager with the development and continued success of the team and the operation. As a coach of the Machine Line, the ML Team Leader; in conjunction with the ML Supervisor and Machining Operations Manager, will assess requirements, develop plans, and provide needed materials; thus assuring that the work area is safe and that the product produced meets or exceeds customer expectation with regard to quality and productivity.

• Frequently reviews the quality of products following each process and provide immediate feedback to Machine Line Specialists
• Generate and recommend solutions to production problems and suggest corrective action to ensure quality standards, policies and procedures are adhered too
• Assign, train and rotate Machine Line Specialists in an effort to build a solid team
• Facilitates communication:

• Between operations within assigned Lines

• Develop action plans to increase productivity and scrap reduction

• Hold overlap communications meetings

• Conduct meetings with Team Leaders, Managers, Maintenance Specialists

• Between Lines

• Between Shifts

• Check and report status of supplies at the operation line and inventory levels
• Maintain appropriate staffing levels
• Prioritize, organize plant operations
• Maintain a motivational climate of continuous improvement
• Anticipate, analyze, and diagnose production problems (tooling problems, equipment malfunctions, material or labor shortages, etc.)

• Maintains assigned roster and crews
  • Works with team on changeovers/setups at required operations

• Plan changes for minimum disruption

• Insure production is recorded and verify the following for accuracy:

• Operation Productivity & Scrap Accountability Logsheets

• Feedback on process and operation

• Provide input to facilitate effective cost reduction, work simplification, scheduling, etc.
• Monitor accuracy of production and quality reporting information with accountability for accuracy for crews/shifts
• Implement and monitor all safety procedures with appropriate follow-up and corrective actions for unsafe conditions

• In addition to the above responsibilities, this position is responsible for other tasks as assigned
