General Job Description

The Technician is a heavy equipment mechanic that specializes in maintaining and repairing cranes. This position may perform routine maintenance, like lubricating parts, as well as fixing other problems when the crane malfunction. The Technician works in a safety-first environment. HCSG is a 24/7 service company requiring technicians to be available on-call, including after hours and weekends, as needed.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Be on-call and provide after-hours services as required.
• Troubleshoot, repair, inspect, and upgrade industrial hoists and cranes at customer locations.
• Perform OSHA-required inspections and generate reports and repair orders.
• Communicate with the Service and Branch Managers to schedule and complete work.
• Operate tools, equipment, and vehicles safely. Report deficiencies to supervisors.
• Work effectively with others in a team environment.
• Attend training sessions and seminars as required.
• Participate in HCSG 5 Marks program.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Physical Demands

This role is labor-intensive. Must lift up to 50 lbs regularly and up to 100 lbs occasionally. Requires climbing, balancing, stooping, overhead reaching, bending, squatting, and standing for long periods. May involve heights over 50 feet. Travel (20-50%) and various shifts, including on-call and overtime, are expected.

Work Environment

Work is performed indoors or outdoors, with exposure to extreme temperatures, noise, heights, fumes, dust, and odors.

Minimum Qualifications

• 0-2 years of crane experience in an industrial setting.
• Ability to pass drug tests and background checks.
• Valid driver’s license with an acceptable record.
• Basic computer skills.
• Good communication skills and ability to work independently or in a team.

Preferred Qualifications

• Vocational/Technical training certificate.
• Some electrical and mechanical knowledge.
• Knowledge of hand tools or own hand tools.
