Job summary

Pilot Company in Memphis, TN is seeking a DEF Blending Operator to run daily blending operations, collect product samples, and perform light maintenance at DEF plants. You will monitor processes to ensure quality and safety while supporting continuous uptime.

You will collaborate with the Rail Movements Specialist to schedule deliveries, troubleshoot issues with guidance, and travel up to 10% to other sites. A high school diploma and a valid driver's license are required.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Valid state driver’s license and clean driving record required.
  • Minimum two years of technical maintenance experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee daily DEF blending operations and sample collection.
  • Perform light plant maintenance (greasing, water system checks, filters) to prevent failures.
  • Coordinate with DEF Rail Movements Specialist for rail deliveries to plants.
  • Troubleshoot equipment issues with guidance from supervisor; track replacement parts.
  • Ensure safety and operational procedures are followed at blending sites.
  • Recommend improvements and assist in implementing operational changes.
  • Travel to other DEF sites to support blending operations as needed.
  • Model company values and support guests and team members.
  • Maintain compliance with all rules, regulations, and procedures.
  • Complete other duties as assigned.

Job Description
Summary

The purpose of this job is to conduct blending operations and provide equipment maintenance at Diesel Exhaust Fluid (DEF) blending plants.

Essential Functions
  • 1. Responsible for daily DEF blending process and collection and submission of product samples
  • 2. Perform light plant maintenance (e.g., greasing equipment, monitoring the water system, replacing equipment filters and resin beds, sweeping) to prevent equipment failure
  • 3. Collaborate daily with the DEF Rail Movements Specialist to schedule rail car deliveries of DEF concentrate to plant(s)
  • 4. Troubleshoot, with guidance from the Assistant Manager, equipment repairs for technical and mechanical issues; maintain inventory of replacement parts
  • 5. Ensure all safety and operational procedures are followed at the blending site(s)
  • 6. Recommend improvements for DEF plant operations and assist in implementing any operational changes at direction of manager
  • 7. Travel to other DEF sites to conduct blending operations as needed
  • 8. Model behaviors that support the company’s common purpose; ensure guests and team members are supported at the highest level
  • 9. Ensure all activities are in compliance with rules, regulations, policies, and procedures
  • 10. Complete other duties as assigned
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent certificate required
  • Valid state driver’s license and positive driving history required
  • Minimum two years’ technical maintenance experience preferred
Specialized Knowledge
  • Basic Microsoft office skills preferred
  • Good technical skills and understanding of flow measurement equipment and systems
  • Ability to use hand tools to replace or repair pumps and other heavy equipment

  • Exposure to a variety of weather conditions and temperatures
