Job description

Summary: The Behavior Support Technician (BST) supports school staff during crisis situations related to student behavior and mental health issues, conducts Functional Behavior Assessments (FBAs) and collaborates with staff when developing and implementing Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs), and implements Crisis Prevention and Intervention (CPI) strategies as needed for students with disabilities.

Essential Duties: (These duties represent a sample and may vary by position.)

  1. Provides one on one support to student in crisis situation using Crisis Prevention & Intervention (CPI) strategies.
  2. Conducts Functional Behavior Assessments (FBAs).
  3. Collaborates with school staff during individual student crisis situations.
  4. Collects, analyzes, and assesses data related to student behavior.
  5. Participates with school staff when developing Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs).
  6. Monitors and provides feedback to staff on implementation of BIPs.
  7. Performs related duties as assigned.
