Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in aerospace manufacturing, integration, or related field.
  • Experience with pneumatic/fluids systems, hydraulics, electrical controls cabinet wiring, harness routing/management, data acquisition, avionics and/or networking systems.
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings and specifications accurately.
  • Experience with precision calibration tools including torque wrenches, micrometers, calipers, laser tracker, and optical measuring instruments.
  • Ability to lift 50lbs and work at heights or in confined spaces.

Responsibilities

This role involves setting up production areas, operating precision tools, and leading continuous improvement initiatives to support our mission of safe space exploration.Key ResponsibilitiesConfigure new production work areas with the necessary tooling and equipment to ensure efficient workflow and minimize any potential delays during the transition to high-rate manufacturing.Operate material handling equipment (forklifts, cranes, etc.) and precision calibrated tools (torque wrenches, micrometers, etc.) to maintain high safety and quality standards.Identify and implement continuous improvement projects for safety and efficiency, enhancing overall productivity.Drive the transition from development to production, proactively performing troubleshooting and maintenance as needed.Maintain clean and organized work areas following 5S principles to promote safety and operational efficiency.Tasks involve preparing and testing aerospace structures, components, systems and subsystems and assisting with vehicle assembly and installation.Team Focus & Domain ExpertiseThe Test team at Blue Origin plays a pivotal role in advancing the efficiency and reliability of aerospace components through cutting-edge testing techniques. As a technician on this team, you will engage in component testing as well as structural testing using various methods and operate specialized equipment such as torque wrenches, particle counters, multimeters and mass spectrometers. Your expertise will be needed for complex test set ups that require multiple skills and processes like torque, safety wire, cable/harness routing, strain gauge installation, application of lubricants, thermocouple installation, accelerometers, and basic fabrication practices. Through your work, adherence to standard practices and procedures will ensure high-quality testing results.Minimum Qualifications5+ years of experience in aerospace manufacturing, integration, or another related field.Experience with pneumatic/fluids systems, hydraulics, electrical controls cabinet wiring, harness routing/management, data acquisition, avionics and/or networking systems.Ability to interpret engineering drawings and specifications accurately.Experience with precision calibration tools including torque wrenches, micrometers, calipers, laser tracker, and optical measuring instruments.Ability to lift 50lbs and comfortable working at heights (work stands, ladders, lifts) and/or in confined spaces.Proficiency in digital tools, including Windows and Microsoft Office applications.Must be a U.S. citizen, permanent resident, or legally admitted refugee.Preferred QualificationsIndustry certification, trade school training and/or degree in related field.Experience with cryogenic systems, fluid assembly, avionics and aerospace/launch vehicle assembly, crucial for ensuring the integrity and reliability of our spacecraft's propulsion systems.Knowledge of precision assembly processes and handling large aerospace components.Strong technical and leadership skills with a keen attention to detail, essential for leading teams in complex integration tasks.Effective communication and collaboration skills in diverse teams to foster a positive work environment.Continuous improvement mindset and curiosity for optimizing processes, driving innovation.Experience working on aerospace vehicles, components, and subsystems.Experience with large out-of-autoclave curing and production control systems.ATF Certification for handling and/or installing explosives.Lean Manufacturing and/or Six Sigma certification.Willingness to work overtime.Position Specific DetailsShift: Friday-Sunday (5PM – 5:30AM), Location: Space Coast, FL, Relocation: AvailableInclusivity StatementDon’t meet all desired requirements?
