Job summary

Blue Origin seeks a skilled Ultrasonic NDT Inspector to perform development and production activities focused on ultrasonic inspections of flight-critical hardware and test samples. You will interpret results, document findings, and collaborate with engineers to ensure part integrity and quality for spaceflight components.

Qualifications include Level II ultrasound certifications and NAS-410 training; involvement with phased-array techniques and blueprints will be common as part of aerospace

Qualifications

  • Qualified to certify to level II status (angle beam weld) per ASME BPVC V, ISO 9712 or ASNT CP189 in Ultrasonic
  • Minimum NAS-410 ultrasound methods training completed (80h UT, 80h Phased Array)
  • Ability to read blueprints and understand schematics

Responsibilities

  • Establish techniques to inspect hardware per safety/spec requirements
  • Perform ultrasonic inspections and interpret results against drawings/work orders
  • Document inspection results and maintain organized records
  • Interface with Engineers/Managers to discuss results
  • Perform volumetric NDE inspections with phased array ultrasonics
  • Assist in training and developing team members
  • Contribute to development of NDE techniques for complex geometries

Passion for our mission and vision is required!Shift days/timesC Shift/1st shift Friday - Sunday (6:00AM – 6:30PM)Responsibilities:Establish and maintain techniques to properly examine hardware, ensuring adherence to all safety and specification requirementsPerform inspections using Ultrasonic equipmentInterpret inspection results and apply acceptance criteria identified on drawing or shop work order.Documentation and organization of inspection results.Interface/communicate with Engineers and/or Managers to describe inspection results.Perform volumetric NDE inspections with advanced phased array ultrasonicsSupport research and development into full matrix capture phased array ultrasonic for operational improvement and optimizationAssist in training and developing others within the teamSupport the development of NDE inspection techniques for complex geometriesQualifications:Qualify to certify to level II status (angle beam weld) per ASME BPVC V, ISO 9712 or ASNT CP189 requirements in Ultrasonic with a minimum amount of documented experience of 800 hours.Must meet the minimum training requirements per NAS-410 in Ultrasound methodsConventional UT – 80 hoursPhased Array Training – 80 hoursMust be able to pass Ultrasonic General Test and Specific Test by week 3 (General Test study materials will be provided if needed)Meet minimum Vision Requirements:1. Near Vision: Either 20/25 (Snellen) at 16" or Jaeger No. 1 at not less than 12”2.
