Job summary

Ziegler CAT is seeking an Ag/Construction Technician to diagnose and repair Caterpillar equipment at our Sioux Falls branch. This role requires strong troubleshooting skills, safety awareness, and a sense of urgency to service a broad range of equipment used in construction and agriculture.

Starting pay ranges from $27.00 to $45.00 per hour, with full-time benefits including health/dental/vision insurance, PTO, paid holidays, retirement plan, and more.

Qualifications

• 2-year technical college degree in diesel technology or equivalent, or a high school diploma with 2 years shop experience.
• 2+ years of ag/diesel engine repair experience preferred.
• Knowledge of hydraulics, transmissions, undercarriage and electrical systems.
• Experience with Caterpillar equipment is a plus.
• Strong communication and documentation skills.
• Own set of mechanic tools and safety-conscious mindset.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose and repair Caterpillar equipment including light to heavy construction and ag gear.
• Document work orders in a complete and timely manner to ensure customer satisfaction.
• Work safely, following company policies and standards.
• Collaborate with other technicians and assist as needed in troubleshooting repairs.
• Participate in ongoing training to enhance mechanical skills and knowledge.

Ziegler CAT has an Ag/Construction Technician position working on Caterpillar heavy construction and ag equipment. We are looking for a dedicated mechanic with excellent troubleshooting, diagnostic skills and a sense of urgency at our Sioux Falls branch. Hours: M-F 7am-3pm or 4x10-’s.

The pay range for this position is $27.00 to $45.00

Starting wage is dependent on skills, experience, education and location. Pay range may vary by 10% depending upon the applicant’s location. Along with competitive pay, full time positions are benefits eligible which includes:

Responsibilities:

• Diagnose and repair Caterpillar equipment including compactors, excavators, loaders, dozers, and other heavy construction equipment, compact equipment, aerial equipment and paving equipment; as well as ag equipment from application, tillage, planting to harvest equipment
• Document work orders in a complete and timely manner to ensure a high level of customer satisfaction
• Work safely at all times, following company policies, procedures and standards
• Work collaboratively and assist other technicians as needed regarding troubleshooting repairs
• Participate in ongoing training to enhance mechanical skills and grow product knowledge

Qualifications:

• 2-year technical college degree in diesel technology or related field; or High school diploma/GED and 2 years of comparable shop mechanicexperience
• 2+ years of relevantag diesel engine/equipment repair experience is preferred
• Working knowledge of hydraulics, transmissions, undercarriage, track systems, components, electrical, and fuel systems; working on Caterpillar is a plus but not required
• Working knowledge of repairing a variety of agricultural equipment; ag technology experience is a definite plus
• Ability to write and communicate effectively and interact with supervisors, customers and team members
• Basic computer skills to document work orders and utilize online diagnostic systems
• Own mechanic tool set
• Ability to maintain a safe and clean work environment
• This role is deemed safety sensitive and requires the ability to successfully complete a pre-employment drug test

• Push/pull up to 50 lbs
• Lift/carry up to 60 lbs
• Lift bulky objects
• Standing, walking, using hands, talking, hearing, neck rotation, trunk rotation, stair climbing, ladder climbing, repetitive bending, kneeling, sustained squat, forward reaching, overhead reaching, supine overhead reaching, crawling, bin lift, high steps, fingering/grasping – able to use bolt box.
• Working Conditions may be indoor and/or outdoor. Noise level may be loud at times.
