Summary of Position

Requires advanced knowledge and ability to diagnose and repair engine, transmission, brake, suspension, electrical, hydraulic, body components, and systems related to heavy-duty and light-duty trucks. This may include gasoline, diesel, and CNG systems, as well as welding and fabrication.

Essential Job Functions

• Report to the Maintenance Supervisor; responsible for diagnostics related to a fleet of refuse and recycling vehicles.
• Maintain and repair all aspects of Mack, IHC, Autocar, Heil, McNeilus vehicles and equipment.
• Support coworkers in working safely and efficiently in maintenance and repair tasks.
• Complete all required paperwork promptly and accurately.
• Follow all safety policies and procedures.
• Maintain a clean and safe work area in compliance with corporate and OSHA standards.
• Utilize vehicle computer electronics systems to interpret failure modes and initiate or assign repairs.
• Conduct safety checks on vehicles and equipment.
• Perform repairs using Factory Service Manuals.
• Maintain high standards of ethics and dependability.

Qualifications

• Ability to perform drive train, engine, and transmission inspections, diagnosis, and repairs.
• Ability to assess structural damage and determine needed repairs.
• Provide guidance and assistance to shop technicians.
• CDL Class B preferred or ability to obtain one.
• Ability to obtain 7 ASE Certifications or equivalent within 36 months.
• 3-5 years of hands-on experience in maintenance and repair of medium-duty class 8 vehicles, preferably in waste/recycling industry.
• Understanding of OSHA safety requirements for vehicle fleets.
• Proficiency with computers for data tracking and communication (e.g., Dossier, Microsoft Office).
