Job Description

As a Pharmacy Technician, you will be responsible for reviewing Prior Authorizations within the Pharmacy Services department of a large healthcare insurance company. Your primary task will be to approve or deny authorizations and forward them to a Pharmacist for final review, while handling all health plans and medication types.

Responsibilities

  • Process prescription exceptions, including resolving claim rejects and conducting member and physician outreach.
  • Enter member demographics and prescription information into the data processing system.
  • Research and resolve rejected insurance billing issues and escalated member issues.
  • Escalate questions regarding prescriptions to a Pharmacist for interpretation or provide direction on processing.
  • Assist with inbound and outbound patient or physician calls.

Essential Skills

  • High School diploma or GED.
  • Current Pharmacy Registration and Certification as required by the state of operation.
  • Strong computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office and Outlook.
  • Nationally Certified Technician and registered pharmacy technician in the state of residence.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Pharmacy technician license.
  • PTCB or NHA certification.
  • Experience in call center, PBM, hospital, or specialty pharmacy settings.

Work Environment

The position is in a professional remote environment, requiring strong WiFi and a dedicated office space with a closed door. You will work with multiple screens and systems, with equipment including a computer, monitor, and headset provided. The shift requires availability Monday to Friday from 8 AM to 8 PM in the local time zone, with rotating weekends every 4-6 weeks and occasional holiday work. Training will be conducted from 10 AM to 6:30 PM EST, after which shifts will start at 8 AM, 9 AM, or 10 AM in your local time zone.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $20.00/hr.
