Job summary

Nissan Motor Corporation seeks an automotive technician to prepare and execute vehicle tests, update hardware/software, and collect high-quality data for engineering review.

You will process raw data into usable results, organize data with Excel and specialized tools, and support driving events to evaluate system performance. Regular communication and cross-functional teamwork are essential in this dynamic role.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; advanced training in automotive field preferred (e.g., UTI).
• Minimum 2 years automotive technician experience.
• Demonstrable automotive mechanical and electrical skills (diagnostics, parts changes, software updates).
• Experience with data acquisition and analysis software preferred; CAN and electrical experience helpful.

Responsibilities

• Test vehicle preparation and test execution, including ballast, alignment, and updating hardware/software as needed.
• Process raw data into completed forms for analysis; organize data for review using Excel and data tools.
• Support proving ground and public road driving events to evaluate system performance.
• Communicate test status, results, issues, and business development items regularly.
• Provide technical support for ride, handling, and brake testing; travel up to ~10% as needed.

Job description

Job functions include but are not limited to:

Test vehicle preparation and test execution: Ballast and align vehicles; update vehicle hardware and software systems as needed (brake / VDC/ chassis components, software settings as needed); install data acquisition equipment; collect vehicle test data via multiple data acquisition systems; perform tests consistently and accurately, in order to repeatedly produce high data quality

Data processing: Process raw data into completed form for analysis by engineers; organize data for review by senior technician or engineer, using Excel, LINK, DART, RevData, Dewesoft, Catman and other tools.

Driving support: Support and participate in proving ground and public road driving events led by engineering staff to evaluate and validate system performance

Communication: Communicate regularly on test status, test results, issues, and business development items.

Team activity support: Provide technical support for ride, handling and brake in-vehicle testing, including travel (~10%) depending on program needs; cross training with other Chassis Performance functions will be expected

Minimum Qualifications:

• Must be self-motivated to learn, perform and grow in a dynamic team environment; must have good communication and interpersonal skill appropriate to cross cultural/cross functional work environment; must be willing to work overtime and be a team player; must be able to self manage deadlines
• Minimum 2 years prior automotive technician experience required; Dynamic vehicle test experience preferred
• Demonstrable automotive mechanical and electrical skill (diagnostics, parts change, software/parameter updates etc) required; experience conducting vehicle dynamics testing and/or brake testing preferred.
• Use of the Microsoft Office suite required; experience with LINK, DART, Dewesoft, Catman, Racelogic, RevData, and/or other data acquisition and analysis software preferred; CAN and electrical experience preferred
• High school diploma / GED required; advanced technical training in automotive field preferred (e.g., UTI, etc)
• Valid driver’s license required; advanced high performance driving training/experience preferred
• Must be able to lift 50lbs unassisted
• Must be able to work OT (up to 20%) as workload demands.
