Job summary

Nassau County School District in Florida seeks a noninstructional Technician in the Facilities Department for the 2026-27 year. The role covers maintenance, repair, and installation of plumbing, electrical, and HVAC systems in district facilities, with an emphasis on safety and reliability.

Responsibilities

• Maintain, install and repair water and sewer lines.
• Maintain, install and repair plumbing systems (water coolers, sprinklers, pumps, back-flow valves).
• Maintain, repair and install gas lines.
• Inventory equipment, supplies and materials.
• Requisition equipment, supplies and materials for jobs in progress.
• Clean and maintain heating systems and hot water systems.
• Keep boilers in safe and efficient operating condition.
• Maintain building roofs; repair leaks and replace faulty roofing.
• Read blueprints and construct buildings to specifications.
• Maintain all structures in safe, attractive condition.
• Scrap, clean, prime and paint surfaces as needed.
• Inspect electrical wiring, safety systems, intercoms and HVAC controls.
• Repair and replace faulty circuits and controls.
• Maintain records of safety inspections.
• Provide the Maintenance Manager with information to establish the fiscal budget.
• Perform other incidental tasks related to the position.

POSITION / LOCATION:

1 - Technician / Facilities Department

ANNUAL EMPLOYMENT:

Twelve Months (260 Days)/8 Hours Daily

SALARY RANGE:

$49,566.40 - $57,678.40

(While in effect, additional compensation from the Millage initiative will be awarded annually. For the 2026-27 school year, the amount for this position is $8,954 and will be prorated from July 1, 2026.)

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.

Performance Responsibilities

• Maintain, repair and / or install gas lines.

• (13) Repair and replace all faulty circuits and / or controls.

• Perform other incidental tasks consistent with the goals and objectives of this position.

Physical Requirements

Heavy Work: Exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently and/or 20 pounds of force as needed to move objects.
