The Alarm Technician is responsible for installing, servicing, and maintaining security systems, including alarm panels, CCTV, access control, and smart home/automation devices. This role requires strong technical skills, attention to detail, and excellent customer service. Technicians must be able to work independently in the field while representing Kazar Security in a professional manner.
Key Responsibilities
- Install, program, test, and troubleshoot alarm systems (Qolsys, 2GIG, Honeywell, etc.).
- Install and configure video surveillance systems (Turing Vision, Axis, Hikvision, Alarm.com video).
- Set up and maintain access control systems (Alarm.com, PDK, CDVI).
- Run and terminate low‑voltage cabling (Cat5/6, coax, etc.).
- Perform system upgrades, takeovers, and routine maintenance.
- Train customers on system use, apps (Alarm.com, Turing Vision), and features.
- Ensure clean, professional, and safe work practices on all job sites.
- Complete all required paperwork, job logs, and documentation accurately.
- Provide exceptional customer service and communicate effectively with clients and team members.
- Participate in on‑call rotation for after‑hours service calls as needed.
Qualifications
- 1–3+ years of experience in alarm/security system installation or service (preferred, but will train the right candidate).
- Working knowledge of alarm panels, CCTV, and access control systems.
- Basic networking knowledge (IP addresses, Wi‑Fi setup, router configuration).
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, wiring diagrams, and technical manuals.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem‑solving skills.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
- Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
- Ability to pass background check and drug screening.
- Ability to become licensed through the state if not currently licensed.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift 50+ lbs. and work on ladders, lifts, and in confined spaces.
- Comfortable working in attics, crawl spaces, and outdoor environments in all weather conditions.
