Duties & Responsibilities
- Facilitate the fabrication, modification, maintenance and repair of prosthetic devices and components. Make adjustments as needed.
- Determine the best material and tools to use to build the prosthetic limb or medical appliance.
- Complete assigned work for delivery per company standard times, policies and responsive to the needs of the patient.
- Demonstrate competence and expertise in fabrication techniques that result in a high level of productivity.
- Promote a positive work environment through compliance with customer relation policies and standards.
- Participate in continuing education to be proficient in fabricating techniques and material properties.
- Identify and create improvements to processes to promote efficiency and productivity.
- Maintain cleanliness and neat orderly workspaces and common areas used during work or breaks.
- Adhere to all safety regulations; compliance with Medicare and other governmental regulations; compliance with bloodborne and Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) requirements.
- Treat Protected Health Information (PHI) with the strictest confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA standards and DJO policies and procedures.
- Perform other duties as assigned and assist with special projects as needed.
Qualifications
- Demonstrated basic organizational skills; ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks to completion in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience working with hand and power tools including the care and maintenance of equipment.
- Learn and maintain knowledge of orthotic/prosthetic design, fitting criteria, measurement tools and techniques including modification procedures, material science and planes of motion.
- Basic understanding of computer programs such as MS Office and databases.
- Professionalism in conduct, appearance, and communication.
- Skilled in communicating with patients and employees effectively both verbally and in writing.
- Ability to work collaboratively and participate with a team approach.
- Self-motivated and detail-oriented.
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Experience and proficiency in general fabrication procedures of prosthetic devices, which include working with thermal plastic, lamination, resin, metal, leather, plaster, and prosthetic/orthotic components preferred. Some level of on-the-job training is anticipated.
