Job summary

Labcorp seeks a Technician to join our team in Lafayette, LA. The role follows a rotating schedule with morning and evening shifts, plus every sixth weekend.

You will perform routine and complex laboratory procedures, monitor instrumentation, and ensure accurate, timely test results to support patient care. Minimum qualifications include an Associate’s degree in a chemical/biological science or clinical lab field and an LSBME license.

Qualifications

  • Associate’s degree in a Chemical or Biological Science, Clinical Laboratory Science, or Medical Technology.
  • Louisiana State (LSBME) license.
  • Able to pass a standardized color blindness test.

Responsibilities

  • Determine the acceptability of specimens for testing according to established criteria.
  • Perform routine and complex technical procedures and functions according to SOPs.
  • Monitor, operate and troubleshoot instrumentation to ensure proper functionality.
  • Make technical decisions regarding testing and problem solving.
  • Prepare, test and evaluate new reagents or controls.
  • Report accurate and timely test results to deliver quality patient care.
  • Perform and document preventative maintenance and quality control procedures.
  • Identify and replenish testing bench supplies as necessary.
  • Assist with processing of specimens when needed.
  • Maintain a safe work environment and wear PPE.

Labcorp is seeking a Technician to join our team in Lafayette, LA

This Position Follows a Rotating Schedule
  • One week: 7:00 AM - 3:30 PM
  • Following week: 10:30 AM - 7:00 PM
  • Every 6th weekend: Work approximately 4-5 hours each day on Saturday and Sunday. Weekend shifts are not full 8-hour shifts.
Job Responsibilities
  • Determine the acceptability of specimens for testing according to established criteria
  • Perform routine and complex technical procedures and functions according to departmental Standard Operating Procedures
  • Monitor, operate and troubleshoot instrumentation to ensure proper functionality
  • Demonstrate the ability to make technical decisions regarding testing and problem solving
  • Prepare, test and evaluate new reagents or controls
  • Report accurate and timely test results in order to deliver quality patient care
  • Perform and document preventative maintenance and quality control procedures
  • Identify and replenish testing bench supplies as necessary
  • Assist with processing of specimens when needed
  • Maintain a safe work environment and wear appropriate personal protective equipment
Minimum Qualifications
  • Associate’s degree in a Chemical or Biological Science, Clinical Laboratory Science, or Medical Technology
  • Louisiana State (LSBME) license
Preferred Qualification
  • Current or prior Labcorp experience
  • 1 year or more of previous clinical laboratory testing experience
  • ASCP or AMT certification

  • Proficient with computers; Familiarity with laboratory information systems
  • Ability to work independently and within a team environment
  • High level of attention to detail along with strong communication and organizational skills
  • Able to pass a standardized color blindness test
  • Flexibility to work overtime or other shifts depending on business needs
