Job summary

Focus School Software, LLC is seeking a responsive IT Support Technician to deliver tier 1 hardware, software, and network help to district staff, students, and families in DeLand, FL. The role includes on-site support across multiple district sites and collaboration with ITS leaders.

The ideal candidate will have a high school diploma or equivalent (associate degree preferred) and at least 1 year of relevant experience, plus Florida driver’s license.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent; associate degree preferred; specialized post-secondary technical training, courses, or certifications (e.g. A+, Net+, Apple Mac Tech)
  • At least 1 year of experience showing knowledge of computer hardware, system software, application software, and network systems
  • Experience in an educational environment preferred
  • Valid Florida Driver’s License; if holding another US state license, acquire Florida license within 30 days of employment (unless accommodation is required)
  • Must be able to operate school board vehicles when assigned per procedures and Policy 505
  • Excellent interpersonal, customer service, and listening skills with ability to relate to diverse individuals and groups
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision and follow guidelines
  • Willingness to continue education to keep current with advancing technology

Responsibilities

  • Provide tier 1 technical support for hardware, software, and telecommunications technology
  • Support clients via email/service request system, remote tools, phone, and in-person at multiple district sites
  • Repair, replace, or coordinate repair of hardware and software
  • Assist in evaluating hardware/software and test equipment, order parts, certify functionality
  • Install hardware, software, and peripherals (AV equipment, charging carts, 3D printers)
  • Install, maintain, and troubleshoot mobile devices (iPads)
  • Provide on-site assistance for instructional systems, departments, and schools
  • Serve as initial site contact for technical support for assigned locations
  • Assist ITS leaders and staff with planning and implementing technology projects
  • Assist senior technicians in developing materials and training users
  • Monitor and update service requests daily; escalate as needed
  • Keep current with hardware/software technology through education and self-study
  • Perform other related duties as assigned by supervisors

Job Description

POSITION GOAL
Provide excellent customer service and technical support to district staff, students, and families

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES


  1. 1. *Provide tier 1 technical support for hardware, software, and telecommunications technology as well as providing technical advice and basic how-to instruction.

  2. 2. *Provide support to clients via email/service request system, remote tools, telephone, and/or in person at multiple district sites.

  3. 3. *Repair, replace, or coordinate the repair of hardware and software.

  4. 4. Assist in the evaluation of hardware and software and test equipment, order replacement parts, and certify functionality.

  5. 5. Install hardware, software, and peripherals (i.e. audio/visual equipment, charging carts, 3D printers). This may involve moving and packing/unpacking equipment from one location to another.

  6. 6. Installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting mobile devices (especially iPads).

  7. 7. *Provide on-site assistance for instructional systems, departments, and schools.

  8. 8. *If assigned to support specific locations, serve as initial site contact for technical support.

  9. 9. *Assist ITS leaders, site administrators, and district staff with technical support in the planning and implementation of technology projects.

  10. 10. *Assist senior technicians in developing materials and providing training for users as assigned.

  11. 11. Monitor and update service requests daily. Communicate any escalated service requests that require attention according to standard operating procedures.

  12. 12. *Keep current with hardware and software technology through education courses and self-study.

  13. 13. Perform other related duties as assigned by supervisors.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS


  • High school diploma or equivalent, associate degree preferred, plus specialized post-secondary technical training, courses, or certifications (i.e. A+, Net+, Apple Mac Tech)

  • At least one (1) year experience that demonstrates knowledge of computer hardware, system software, application software, and network systems

  • Experience working in an educational environment preferred

  • Possess a valid Florida Driver’s License; if a holder of any other valid US state-issued Driver’s License, agree to acquire a Florida Driver’s License within thirty (30) days of employment, except in a case where accommodation is required

  • Must be able to operate school board vehicles, when assigned, in accordance with operational procedures and School Board Policy 505
