Job Title: Technical Writer
Location: Cudahy, WI
Employment Type: Long-term Contract/ Full-Time (12-18 months)
Shift: Monday–Friday with some off-shift responsibilities
Position Overview
System One is seeking Technical Writers to support our client based in Cudahy, WI. This is a long-term contract opportunity, with full-time work hours.
In this role, you will create clear, accurate, and user-friendly documentation such as procedures and training materials for a diverse audience. You will collaborate across departments—working with engineers, safety professionals, environmental teams, maintenance, and a represented workforce—to support operational excellence and ensure document accuracy and accessibility.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to gather technical content through observation, interviews, notes, and photos
- Translate technical information into accessible procedures and training guides
- Ensure documentation adheres to company formatting and content standards
- Incorporate feedback to improve document usability and clarity
- Edit and maintain consistency and accuracy across all documentation
- Prioritize tasks based on business needs and team goals in collaboration with supervisors
- Promote and maintain a safe work culture
- Identify and resolve issues related to documentation processes
- Conduct audits of document distribution and identify discrepancies
Required Qualifications
- Associate’s degree with 1+ year of writing experience
- OR high school diploma with 3+ years of writing experience
- Ability to wear both half and full-face respirators
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Understanding of confidentiality and data privacy standards
- Experience in a manufacturing or heavy industrial environment
- Familiarity with represented environments
- Bachelor's degree in Science, Engineering, Manufacturing, Business, or a related field
- 2+ years of experience writing procedural documents
- High attention to detail and quality
- Excellent time management and ability to meet tight deadlines
- Self-motivated with a strong sense of ownership
- Strong research skills and ability to independently seek answers
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite—especially Word, Excel, and Outlook
