Job summary

Acara Solutions is seeking a Technical Writer II to support assembly and testing of complex systems in a manufacturing setting. You will create, maintain, and improve work instructions and process documentation that drive quality, efficiency, and consistency.

You will collaborate with engineering and manufacturing teams to translate technical information into clear guidelines, enable training, and support continuous improvement initiatives within a collaborative environment.

Qualifications

  • 2+ years in technical writing or related manufacturing environments.
  • 2+ years creating, editing, or maintaining technical work instructions.
  • 1+ years supporting manufacturing operations involving complex systems.
  • 2+ years using MS Office, including PowerPoint and Excel.
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.

Responsibilities

  • Create, edit, and maintain manufacturing work instructions and procedures.
  • Collaborate with Manufacturing Support to capture changes and future build requirements.
  • Develop clear written and visual instructions for assembly and test operations.
  • Audit work instructions and guide technicians through reviews and validation.
  • Interpret schematics, 3D models, diagrams, and layouts to improve content.
  • Support continuous improvement projects targeting efficiency and quality.
  • Update materials promptly after manufacturing escalations and engineering changes.
  • Gather technical information and translate it for technical and non-technical audiences.

Job Requirements
What You'll Bring:
  • 2+ years of experience in technical writing, manufacturing engineering, production support, process documentation, or related manufacturing environments.
  • 2+ years of experience creating, editing, or maintaining technical work instructions, procedures, assembly documentation, or manufacturing process documentation.
  • 1+ years of experience supporting manufacturing operations, production processes, or assembly/test environments involving complex systems.
  • 1+ years of experience reviewing documentation for compliance with engineering requirements, quality standards, and manufacturing processes.
  • 2+ years of experience using Microsoft Office applications, including PowerPoint and Excel.
  • Bachelor's degree and 2+ years of related experience, advanced degree with relevant experience, or equivalent work experience.

  • Experience with manufacturing methods, procedures, hardware specifications, and production documentation.

  • Ability to read and interpret engineering schematics, diagrams, 3D models, CAD drawings, and technical specifications.
  • Experience conducting documentation audits, work instruction reviews, and process validation activities.
  • Knowledge of continuous improvement methodologies and manufacturing process optimization.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills with the ability to quickly learn new software tools and workflow systems.
  • Experience presenting technical information and training manufacturing personnel.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment while managing multiple priorities and deadlines.
