Job summary

RAVE Aerospace is seeking a Technical Writer II to manage maintenance documentation tasks, projects, and staff, ensuring ATA iSpec2200/S1000D compliant manuals such as CMM, AMM, SB, and SIL are produced and revised as needed. You will coordinate with engineers and SMEs, read engineering drawings, and oversee publication quality, proofreading, and distribution of materials.

A Bachelor’s degree and 3–6 years in a similar role are required, with a comprehensive benefits package.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience in a related field.
  • 3–6 years of experience in a similar technical writing role.
  • Working knowledge of ATA iSpec2200 and S1000D standards (CMM, AMM, SB, SIL).

Responsibilities

  • Produce printed technical training materials, documents and publications.
  • Author and revise documentation such as CMM, SB and SIL in ATA iSpec2200/S1000D format.
  • Read and interpret engineering drawings, test reports and vendor data for manuals.
  • Evaluate publication needs, costs and timelines; review proofs for quality control.
  • Coordinate with internal groups and SMEs to ensure accuracy and compliance.
  • Possibly supervise staff on technical documentation projects.
  • Develop and write engineering and regulatory documents and presentations.
  • Prepare material for publication by proofreading for errors and factual accuracy.
  • Coordinate distribution of published materials and perform other duties as assigned.

Job description

The Technical Writer II is responsible for managing maintenance documentation tasks, projects and assigned staff. Will maintain Component Maintenance Manuals, Overhaul Manuals, Service Bulletins, Service Letters, and other various ATA compliant documents used in commercial aviation maintenance. May also review existing material and recommend revisions or changes in scope, format, content, methods or reproduction.

Core Responsibilities
  • Produce printed technical training materials, documents and publications
  • Author and revise documentation such as Component Maintenance Manuals, Service Bulletins and Service Letters while complying with ATA iSpec2200 specifications
  • Read and interpret engineering drawings, test reports, and vendor data for inclusion in technical manuals
  • Evaluate product publication needs, cost and time estimates for delivery and reviews proofs of material to ensure quality control
  • Communicate with appropriate internal groups and subject matter experts to ensure content is accurate and meets requirements of the product or program specifications
  • May supervise subordinates and personnel assigned to technical documentation efforts
  • May develop and write engineering and regulatory documents, training manuals, presentation data and other technical publications
  • Prepare written material for publication by reviewing copy to detect errors in spelling, punctuation, grammar and syntax, in addition to verifying facts
  • Coordinate the distribution published materials
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned

  • Working knowledge of ATA iSpec2200 and S1000D standards
  • Specifically, CMM, AMM, SB, SIL and other related documents

The starting pay range for this position is $84,500 - 95,000 per year however, base pay offered may vary depending on the level of the position, skills, experience, job-related knowledge, and location.
