Job summary

ASM Research is seeking a Technical Writer to develop, edit, and maintain clear, user-focused documentation supporting enterprise IT operations, ITSM delivery, and mission-critical systems in a federally regulated environment.

You will collaborate with engineers, analysts, ITSM leaders, and ITIL practitioners to translate complex technical and security information into accessible content, manage the full documentation lifecycle, and ensure content governance, usability, and compliance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in a related field.
• 0–3 years of technical writing or closely related experience.
• Ability to understand and communicate complex technical information clearly for varied audiences.
• Experience with documentation tools (word processing, PDF, and help‑authoring/publishing tools).
• Strong writing, editing, and proofreading with attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Translate complex technical and security information into user guides, SOPs, workflows, and reference materials for varied audiences.
• Gather, analyze, and validate information by interviewing engineers, analysts, and ITSM leaders; review specifications and observe workflows.
• Apply structured writing principles, templates, and style guides to create cohesive content across manuals, knowledge articles, and training materials.
• Use publishing tools to produce content in formats including web-based help, printed docs, and training materials.
• Apply plain-language principles, accessibility standards, and federal guidelines to improve clarity and compliance.
• Coordinate review cycles and maintain version control for auditable change history.
• Partner with agile and DevOps teams to update documentation with frequent releases.
• Support documentation for enterprise IT services such as cloud, cybersecurity, and ITSM workflows.
