Pro Staff is hiring a Technical Writer/Editor in Sterling Heights, MI to create and maintain manuals and documentation for mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and electronic systems. The role emphasizes accuracy, cross-functional collaboration, and compliance with standards.

Ideal candidates have 2+ years in technical writing, a technical degree, and experience with XML tools (Arbortext Epic Editor or Oxygen). Automotive/defense experience is a plus.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a technical discipline or equivalent.
• 2+ years of technical writing experience.
• Experience with mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, or electronic systems.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and Adobe Acrobat Professional.
• Experience with XML authoring tools such as Arbortext Epic Editor or Oxygen preferred.
• Automotive or defense industry experience strongly preferred.
• Strong attention to detail, communication, and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Create, edit, and maintain technical manuals, procedures, repair instructions, parts documentation, and technical reports.
• Translate engineering drawings, specifications, and technical data into clear, user-friendly documentation.
• Collaborate with engineers, technicians, and cross-functional teams to ensure document accuracy.
• Review and incorporate technical illustrations, graphics, and diagrams into documentation.
• Verify and validate procedures to ensure compliance with technical standards and customer requirements.
• Utilize XML authoring tools, content management systems (CMS), and publishing software to develop documentation.
• Ensure all documents meet quality, safety, and regulatory requirements.
