Job summary

Insight Global is seeking a cleared Technical Writer to work onsite in Washington, DC, supporting the CBP Cyber Security Directorate. You will draft and maintain SOPs, playbooks, and strategy documents, coordinate across divisions, and produce executive reports and procurement materials.

Requirements include 5+ years in technical writing for government or cybersecurity contexts; strong MS Word/PowerPoint/Excel and SharePoint skills; Section 508 compliance knowledge; and ability to lead

Qualifications

• Experience developing and maintaining SOPs, playbooks, policies, procedures, and executive-level reports.
• Experience independently leading documentation efforts from requirements gathering through final publication.
• Experience managing SharePoint content and documentation repositories.
• Knowledge of Section 508 compliance requirements.
• Experience developing newsletters, briefings, and strategic communications.

Insight Global is looking to hire a cleared Technical Writer sitting onsite in Washington, DC. This individual will support the CBP Cyber Security Directorate (CSD) Mission Support Branch by serving as a primary contributor for technical documentation, organizational communications, and mission support deliverables.

This individual will develop, draft, update, and maintain SOPs, playbooks, operational procedures, cybersecurity strategy documentation, organizational reports, SharePoint content, newsletters, executive briefings, and procurement support materials. They will manage documentation review cycles, support tasker coordination efforts, maintain documentation repositories, develop new process documentation, and perform annual reviews and updates of existing documentation to ensure accuracy and alignment with evolving operational requirements. This person will regularly collaborate with government leadership and stakeholders across multiple divisions to gather information, finalize deliverables, and ensure all documentation products meet organizational standards and mission objectives.

Compensation:$42.50/hr to $48.50/hr.

Exact compensation may vary based on several factors, including skills, experience, and education.

Skills and Requirements

• Active CBP Background Investigation (BI) clearance OR Active Secret clearance with the ability to obtain and maintain a CBP BI
• 5+ years of technical writing experience supporting operational, cybersecurity, IT, or government programs
• Extensive experience developing and maintaining SOPs, playbooks, policies, procedures, implementation guides, operational documentation, and executive-level reports
• Experience independently leading documentation efforts from requirements gathering through final publication
• Experience managing SharePoint content, documentation repositories, and information management processes
• Experience supporting organizational taskers, executive data calls, strategic communications, and leadership reporting
• Experience conducting annual documentation reviews, revision cycles, and content modernization efforts
• Experience developing and maintaining process documentation, operational calendars, workflow documentation, and organizational reference materials
• Experience consolidating input from multiple stakeholders and producing publication-ready deliverables with minimal oversight
• Strong Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and SharePoint experience
• Exceptional editing, proofreading, formatting, and document quality control skills
• Knowledge of Section 508 compliance requirements
• Experience supporting procurement documentation, market research reports, or statements of need
• Experience developing newsletters, briefings, and strategic communications
• Familiarity with cybersecurity organizations or technical environments
