Job Description: Technical Writer with Active Secret Clearance

An aerospace client is seeking a Technical Writer with Active Secret Clearance. The role involves writing, rewriting, and editing technical documents such as manuals, operational specifications, and technical publications to communicate technical information effectively to diverse audiences.

Position Details

• Position: Technical Writer
• Pay Range: $26/hr - $39/hr (DOE)
• Duration: 18 months or longer
• Schedule: 9x80 A with hours varying between 35-45 per week

Overview

The successful candidate will develop technical documentation for advanced military systems, including radars for F-22, F-35, F-16, B-1B, UAV systems, and more.

Responsibilities

• Develop and edit technical manuals and publications for various audiences.
• Prepare illustrative materials like drawings and diagrams.
• Conduct quality reviews and publish materials in multiple formats, including HTML, XML, SGML.
• Collaborate with engineers, task leads, and instructors to develop manuals.
• Perform desktop publishing and research from technical documents and sources.

Minimum Qualifications

• US Citizenship and Department of Defense (DoD) Secret clearance.
• Bachelor’s Degree in STEM or related experience with radar, communications, or electro-optics systems.
• At least 2 years’ experience with structured authoring tools like MadCap, FrameMaker, or Arbortext.
• Proficiency in MS Office and ability to analyze technical artifacts.
• Strong multitasking, attention to detail, and communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Over 5 years’ technical writing experience.
• Knowledge of content management, ASD-STE 100, XML, SGML, HTML, S1000, DITA.
• Possession of DoD Top Secret/Sensitive Compartmented Information (TS/SCI).
