Graham Packaging is seeking a Technical Training Development Specialist to develop and conduct training programs that provide our employees with the skills necessary to excel at their jobs in blow molding, injection molding and downstream operations.
The role serves as a subject matter expert and contributes to company SOPs, reporting to the Global Technical Center in York, PA. It emphasizes instructional design, online resources, and continuous improvement, with travel up to 75% as needed.

Graham Packaging is looking for a technical trainer to develop and conduct training programs that provide our employees with the skills necessary to excel at their jobs. He or she will serve as a subject matter expert in key technical areas of our operations (blow molding, injection molding, downstream operations) and be a key contributor to company standard operating procedures. This position reports into Graham Packaging’s Global Technical Center in York, PA.
The primary duties of a Technical Training Development Specialist include:
Coordinate and deliver training programs for employees or customers
Work with operations to ensure that training programs align with organizational needs
Support employee adoption and adherence to defined procedures through effective on-line/on-demand training resources that follow instructional design best practices, including:
Stating instructional end goals in terms of demonstrable knowledge, skills and on-the-job performance
Identifying target audience training needs in terms of comprehension (knowledge) and application (skilled execution on-the-job) specific to job context and audience profile (e.g. age, general education level, computer skill base, etc.)
Creating short, engaging, interactive, online learning resources that support the transfer of defined operating procedures into easily consumed audio, visual/graphic, relevant example/case studies, demonstrations and self-assessment resources as appropriate to the material
Designing and writing supporting pieces for training resources, such as FAQs and job aids where needed
Determining criteria used to judge learner’s performance and develop assessment instruments
Maintain project documentation and course collateral for future trainings
Collaborate on the creation of standard operating procedures for the company
With a focus on continuous improvement, investigate and implement new training techniques
The following skills and proficiencies are essential requirements of the position:
Ability to communicate complex ideas in an effective manner
Understanding of various educational techniques and when to use each one (lecture, demonstration, discussion, etc…)
Strong technical writing skills
Strong understanding of the properties of blow molding resins and other raw materials
Strong processing skills for monolayer, multilayer, single parison and multiple parison bottles
Strong mechanical troubleshooting skills of blow molding equipment
Travel up to 75% required at times
The standard compensation for this role is $95,400 - 143,100. Salary offers will be determined based on final candidate qualifications, experience, skillset, and other relevant factors.
The expected salary range for the position described in this posting is made in accordance with the legal mandates of certain jurisdictions within the United States. The final agreed-upon compensation is based on individual qualifications and experience.
