Job summary

Graham Packaging Company is seeking a Night Shift Technician to operate and maintain injection and/or blow molding machines, ensuring safety, quality and maximum machine efficiency. Shift is 6 pm to 6:30 am, with responsibilities spanning setup, color changes, scrap reduction and preventive maintenance.

Candidates should have technical training or degree and basic PLC/Electrical knowledge; prior experience with blow molding/injection molding is preferred.

Qualifications

• Technical or related field education (technical school, college, or apprenticeship).
• 6 months' prior experience operating or maintaining blow molding/injection molding machines.
• Basic understanding of PLCs and willingness to complete related training.
• Working knowledge of HDPE and/or PET technologies preferred; blow molding experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Operate and maintain a group of blow molding/injection machines and related equipment safely and efficiently.
• Perform setup and establish setup sheets to improve machine efficiency and reduce scrap.
• Conduct frequent on-time quality checks against established standards.
• Perform preventive maintenance and document activities; escalate issues as needed.
• Assist with installing, programming and maintaining machinery and conveyors as required.
• Complete trial runs on new molds, tooling, resins and concentrates.

Overview

Responsible for operating and maintaining injection and/or Blow Molding machines to ensure employee safety, production of high quality containers, and maximizing machine efficiency. Night shift, 6 pm to 6:30 am.

Responsibilities

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:

• Operate and maintain/assist with maintaining a group of plastic blow molding/injection machines and auxiliary equipment at identified optimal performance, including mold insert and color changes, producing containers in a safe and high quality method while minimizing and reducing scrap.
• Perform process set up and establish set up sheets of injection stretch blow molding machines to improve machine efficiency and reduce scrap in an accurate and timely manner.
• Operate equipment to minimize the generation and maximize the consumption of regrind, purge and scrap within customer specifications where applicable.
• Responsible for product quality, making frequent on time quality checks on products being produced from established quality standards, identifying and making necessary changes and adjustments.
• Perform regular preventative maintenance checks on all equipment, including lubrication and checks of all equipment and systems in accordance with preventative maintenance schedules, completing and maintaining all required documentation and escalating issues as necessary.
• Perform minor repair on all production equipment such as case sealers, trimmers, blow molder extruder, conveyor systems and material loading and unloading as required.
• Assist with Installing, program, repair and maintain machinery and equipment such as conveyor systems, hydraulic equipment, pneumatic equipment, compressors, chillers, dryers, auto-packers, robots or programmable controllers as well as troubleshooting fluid power circuits and making necessary repairs.
• Perform trial runs on all new molds, tooling, resins, and color concentrates.
• Perform all tasks with minimal supervision, in a prompt, safe, and efficient, manner including replacement of fasteners, guards, valves, cylinders and safe ties.
• Maintain work area to acceptable safety and housekeeping standards.
• Verify material usage per standards
• Properly identify regrind and chunk produced.
• Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education and/or Experience:

• Technical school, trade school, apprenticeship, military technical training, associate degree, bachelor's degree, or equivalent combination of education and experience in a mechanical, electrical, manufacturing, or related technical field. Formal training in a mechanical or electrical related field (Preferred).
• 6 months' prior experience operating or maintaining blow molding/injection molding machines or similar equipment (In lieu of related degree/diploma).
• Experience with Electrical
• Basic understanding and operation of PLC, or willing to complete relevant training.
• Working knowledge ofHDPE and/or PET technologies preferred. Direct experience with Blow Molding on any platform preferred.
• Must be able to pass all requirements to become an "Electrically Authorized" employee in accordance with the corporate Electrical Safety Training Program.
• Computer usage and typing skills are essential.

The expected salary range for the position described in this posting is made in accordance with the legal mandates of certain jurisdictions within the United States. The final agreed-upon compensation is based on individual qualifications and experience.
