Location: Philadelphia, PA or Norfolk, VA

Job Overview

Continental Tide is seeking an experienced Technical Trainer to support our Hull, Mechanical and Electrical (HM&E) contract base, specifically supporting Air Conditioning and Refrigeration Systems. The successful candidate will prepare and instruct students in the operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of Air Conditioning and Refrigeration (AC&R) Systems at NSWCPD’s Auxiliary Systems Test Facility.

Responsibilities
  • Support the operation, maintenance, and testing of naval air conditioning and refrigeration systems, subsystems, equipment, and components.
  • Evaluate training requirements for the system.
  • Create training objectives and goals.
  • Identify the resources necessary to implement the plan and ensure training is conducted accordingly.
  • Perform research and analysis; interface with SME regarding training development.
  • Design, develop, and revise complex interactive, instructor-led technical courses.
  • Draft and finalize training documentation; prepare instructional materials from technical source data (Technical Manuals, PMS Documentation, etc.).
  • Present training materials to large audiences; conduct customized training classes.
  • Execute On-the-Job (OJT) hands-on training; provide handouts and facilitate discussion.
  • Determine overall effectiveness of programs by collecting feedback and implementing improvements as necessary.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in training or three (3) years of military experience in curriculum development and instruction.
  • Minimum of three (3) years’ experience planning and managing training development for large programs, developing formal classroom courses, workshops, training plans, and technical materials.
  • Ability to apply knowledge of AC&R theory, pipefitting, electrical and mechanical layouts, variable speed drives (VSD), commercial chiller and HVAC controls aboard U.S. Navy, Coast Guard, MSC and commercial vessels.
Skills and Attributes
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and detail-oriented skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks; proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Ability to read and interpret system and equipment drawings; knowledge of NAVSEA Standard Items, NFPA, EPA regulations, Navy specifications, and AC&R installation standards.
  • Strong safety and quality mindset; high level of critical thinking and reading comprehension.
  • Willingness to travel; ability to obtain a SECRET clearance; U.S. citizenship is required due to export control regulations.
