Job summary

Bloomberg Industry Group seeks a Lead ML Architect to design and own the Lux agentic integration platform, guiding a growing team across the full ML lifecycle. You will set vision, drive roadmaps, and establish engineering practices while mentoring engineers and coordinating with stakeholders for maximum impact.

You will lead architectural initiatives, ensure observability, scalability, and cost efficiency, and foster an inclusive, high-performance culture while delivering core platform features.

Qualifications

• Master’s or PhD in related field or equivalent work experience.
• 3 years’ experience with Java or Python, ML/AI frameworks, libraries, data structures and data modeling techniques.
• 3 years of software development experience building commercial and ML applications.
• Experience in all phases of ML application lifecycles from mapping to data gathering to optimization.
• Project or team leadership experience with strong interpersonal skills.
• Working experience with DevOps, CI/CD, and infrastructure as code.

Job description

Leads a small team developing and managing ML solutions across the full lifecycle—from problem scoping and data preparation to model optimization—while guiding technical standards, partnering on roadmaps, delivering major architectural initiatives, managing budgets, mentoring engineers, and fostering an inclusive, high‑performance culture. Design and own the technical architecture and product roadmap for Lux, an agentic integration platform connecting data and workflows across internal systems, while building and leading the team that develops it.

What you will do:

Ensure high standards of technical development are adhered to including observability, stability, scalability, security, performance, and cost effectiveness. Guide the team on modern machine learning and software development best practices and technical direction while providing hands‑on development and problem‑solving assistance. Help foster an inclusive environment where our culture is a strength in delivering results for our customers, our team, and our business. Lead special projects and perform other duties as assigned.

You need to have:

• Master’s or PhD in related field or equivalent work experience.
• 3 years’ experience and/or commensurate skills with an object‑oriented programming language such as Java or Python, ML/AI frameworks, libraries, data structures and data modeling techniques.
• 3 years of software development experience and/or commensurate skills building commercial and ML applications.
• Experience in all phases of machine learning application lifecycles from problem mapping and scoping to data gathering and preparation to optimizing model performance.
• Either project or team leadership experience and strong interpersonal skills.
• Working experience with DevOps, CICD, and infrastructure as code.

Nice to Have:

• Experience designing orchestration layers for agentic or multi-system integrations.
• Exposure to Bloomberg data products, enterprise data ecosystems, or financial services industry.

Compensation Range:

Compensation Range: $165,000.00-$205,000.00 Placement in the salary range will be decided upon completion of the interview process. Salary determination will be determined based on factors including but not limited to relevant experience, demonstrated skills related to the requirements of the role, education, certifications, and geographic location.
