Permanent
Location: Pity Me, Durham
Salary: £32,215 - £37,900 (depending on experience)
About The Role
As a Technical Support for Water Permitting and Compliance, you\'ll play an important role in helping us protect the environment and ensure our water operations meet environmental and regulatory requirements. Working closely with our Water Permitting and Compliance Team, operational colleagues and external stakeholders, you\'ll support a wide range of activities that help maintain compliance, manage environmental risks and uphold our environmental responsibilities.
In this varied role, you\'ll assist with environmental permit applications and renewals, helping to ensure all required information is accurate and submitted within required timescales. You\'ll support environmental compliance activities by gathering, analysing and maintaining environmental data, preparing reports and documentation, and contributing to audits and regulatory reporting.
You\'ll also be involved in supporting pollution investigations, collecting information and evidence, maintaining incident records, and helping to identify opportunities to reduce environmental risks. Using your analytical skills and attention to detail, you\'ll help turn environmental information into meaningful insights that support informed decision-making and continuous improvement.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys working with data, collaborating with a range of stakeholders, and making a positive contribution to environmental protection and compliance within an essential service.
About You
We\'re looking for an organised and proactive individual with an interest in environmental compliance and a passion for protecting the environment. You\'ll have knowledge of environmental legislation, permitting requirements or regulatory compliance frameworks, alongside the ability to identify issues, analyse information and help develop practical solutions.
You\'ll be a confident communicator with strong written skills, capable of preparing reports and presenting technical information clearly and accurately. Just as importantly, you\'ll be comfortable building effective relationships with colleagues and stakeholders, working collaboratively to achieve shared goals.
The successful candidate will be able to manage multiple priorities, plan their workload effectively and remain adaptable when responding to changing demands. You\'ll be confident using Microsoft Office and other digital systems and have a keen eye for detail when handling data and compliance-related information.
A degree in an environmental, scientific or related discipline would be advantageous, although we\'ll also consider candidates who can demonstrate equivalent knowledge and experience. Experience within the water industry, utilities sector or a broader environmental role would be beneficial but is not essential. Above all, we\'re looking for someone who is motivated, eager to learn and committed to supporting environmental compliance and continuous improvement.
