Job summary

Edison Smart is seeking a Technical Support Specialist for its building controls division in Dallas. This hands-on role supports contractors, system integrators, building owners and end users, including testing, configuration and commissioning of equipment.

Ideal candidates have BAS/BMS or HVAC controls experience with Niagara, BACnet and IP networking; controller programming is a plus. The position offers a Monday–Friday schedule and requires on-site work at the Dallas branch.

Qualifications

• Experience in BAS/BMS, building controls or HVAC controls preferred.
• Knowledge of Niagara Framework, BACnet, RS-485, IP networking desirable.
• Controller programming experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical support via phone, email and ticketing systems.
• Troubleshoot Niagara Framework issues including stations, drivers, points, histories, alarms, licensing and upgrades.
• Diagnose field wiring and communications issues including RS-485, shielding, grounding and terminations.
• Troubleshoot controls networking including IP addressing, subnets, VLANs, remote access and BACnet/IP.
• Bench-test, configure, stage and commission controllers and gateways.
• Reproduce customer issues in the lab and identify root causes.
• Escalate product defects to manufacturers and manage resolution.
• Develop technical documentation and knowledge-base solutions.
• Support sales teams with product selection and compatibility questions.
• Assist with customer training, demonstrations and occasional onsite troubleshooting/startup.

Technical Support Specialist — Building Controls

We are working with a growing building controls and automation business seeking a Technical Support Specialist to join its team.

This is a hands‑on role providing technical support to contractors, system integrators, building owners and end users, while also supporting equipment testing, configuration and commissioning.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide technical support via phone, email and ticketing systems

• Troubleshoot Niagara Framework issues including stations, drivers, points, histories, alarms, licensing and upgrades

• Diagnose field wiring and communications issues including RS-485, shielding, grounding and terminations

• Troubleshoot controls networking including IP addressing, subnets, VLANs, remote access and BACnet/IP

Salary: $80k – $100k – Negotiable depending on experience

Working Schedule: Monday – Friday: 40 hours per week on 7:30a – 5:00p

Working Location: Dallas Branch – No Remote work available

Ideal Candidate

Experience in BAS/BMS, building controls or HVAC controls is preferred, with knowledge of Niagara, BACnet, RS-485, IP networking and controller programming highly desirable.

Suitable backgrounds could include BAS Technician, Controls Technician, BAS Programmer, Applications Engineer or Technical Support Engineer.
