A leading manufacturer of industrial and heavy equipment is seeking a Technical Support Representative based in Eastern Iowa to provide expert technical assistance to dealers and customers. This role is ideal for an experienced heavy equipment mechanic or technician looking to transition from the shop into a technical support position while continuing to utilize their mechanical expertise.

The ideal candidate will have experience with vacuum trucks, jetting equipment, industrial equipment, heavy equipment, or related machinery and possess strong troubleshooting skills in hydraulics, electrical systems, pneumatics, and mechanical repairs. This position serves as a key technical resource, helping customers diagnose and resolve equipment issues while delivering exceptional service and support.

Responsibilities:
  • Provide technical support to dealers and customers via phone, email, and other communication channels to assist with equipment diagnosis and repair
  • Troubleshoot hydraulic, electrical, pneumatic, and mechanical systems on vacuum, jetting, industrial, and heavy equipment
  • Read and interpret hydraulic, pneumatic, electrical, and parts schematics to identify and resolve technical issues
  • Assist customers with troubleshooting hydraulic components, pumps, valves, cylinders, hoses, and related systems
  • Diagnose 12-volt electrical systems, including relays, circuit breakers, starters, solenoids, motors, and control circuits
  • Support troubleshooting of electro-hydraulic and electro-pneumatic systems
  • Review and document technical service cases to ensure accurate records and traceable repair history
  • Approve third-party repair work and coordinate purchase orders for authorized service providers
  • Assist with customer and dealer training programs covering equipment operation, maintenance, and repair procedures
  • Collaborate with engineering, service, warranty, and parts departments to resolve complex technical issues
  • Participate in a rotating after-hours on-call schedule to provide customer support as needed
Qualifications
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience as a heavy equipment, industrial equipment, vacuum truck, jetting equipment, diesel, or related technician
  • Strong understanding of hydraulic, electrical, pneumatic, and mechanical systems
  • Ability to diagnose and troubleshoot complex equipment issuesExperience reading and interpreting hydraulic, electrical, pneumatic, and parts diagrams
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication and customer service abilities
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Outlook, Excel, and Word
  • Ability to learn ERP and service management software
  • Strong organizational skills with excellent attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with internal teams
