Job summary

Modern Woodmen of America in Rock Island, IL is seeking a Technical Support Administrator I to support the laptop lifecycle, troubleshoot issues, and create PowerShell scripts to enable smooth IT operations.

This onsite, full-time role handles endpoint computing environments, provides Tier 2+ support, and collaborates with multiple teams to keep systems secure and up to date. The position offers growth within a long‑standing fraternal organization and a comprehensive benefits package.

Qualifications

  • Associate degree in Computer Science or related field preferred.
  • 1+ years related work experience.
  • Advanced knowledge of laptop/PC hardware, Windows Software, IT Help Desk processes.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong attention to detail with ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Ability to install, configure, and upgrade Windows applications.
  • Strong customer service skills.
  • Ability to obtain LOMA Level I within 6 months of hire.

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to the development, installation, testing and monitoring of the PC or end user and endpoint computing environments (physical and virtual).
  • Performs system administration and management duties for all endpoint and end user infrastructure systems.
  • Provide Tier 2+ support by conducting root-cause analysis, isolating the source of problems, and resolving bugs.
  • Create and manage scripts written in PowerShell, Python, or various scripting languages.
  • Perform system administration tasks using endpoint administration tools such as Microsoft Intune, BigFix, ControlUp, and Microsoft Defender.
  • Maintain 3rd party software catalog management.
  • Windows OS deployment task sequences and diagnosing Windows OS.
  • Coordinate the pickup and delivery of equipment and related packages between designated locations.
  • Perform diagnostic testing on laptops and accurately document findings.
  • Support Hardware Operations Center and ensure equipment meets quality standards.
  • Support and maintain firmware for end user devices.
  • Collaborate with team members and cross-functional partners for efficient workflow.
  • Work with Information Security on securing on‑premises and cloud infrastructure.
  • Work with auditors, HR, Legal, and Compliance on requests and controls.
  • Develop user instructional materials and provide training.
  • Communicate with vendors and escalate as needed.
  • Perform off hour upgrades with vendors and testing.
  • Be part of on‑call rotation for 24x7x365 support.

Responsibilities

  • Support our Hardware Operations Center. Including inspecting and maintaining returned and outbound equipment to ensure it meets operational and quality standards.
  • Support and maintain firmware for end user devices.
  • Collaborate effectively with team members and cross-functional partners to support efficient workflow execution and continuity of operations.
  • Work with Information Security Department on implementation of securing on‑premises and cloud infrastructure.
  • Work with third party auditors, internal auditors, Human Resources, Legal, and Compliance Departments on various requests and controls.
  • Develop user instructional materials and provide individual or classroom training to users.
  • Communicate with vendors or other third parties through normal means, escalating with them if necessary.
  • Perform off hour upgrades that may need to happen at night or on weekends by conferring with vendors, developing, testing, evaluating, and installing enhancements.
  • Be a member of the team for on‑call rotation, which provides 24x7x365 monitoring and support of the Society’s Infrastructure, software licensing, and maintenance agreements.
  • Perform additional responsibilities as assigned.

  • Pay: The hourly pay for this position is $29.25. The specific rate will depend on the successful candidate’s qualifications and prior experience. Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for current or future employment-based sponsorship.   • Work Arrangements: This is a full‑time onsite, hourly position: 37.5 hours per week (7.5 hours per day), Monday- Friday, with flexible start time between 7 a.m.-9 a.m. On‑site positions work at our Home Office in Rock Island, IL.
