Job summary

Playbill, Inc. is seeking experienced Stage Managers to oversee the rehearsal and performance process for Mainstage, Children's Theatre, and other productions in New York.

You will attend rehearsals, manage paperwork, and coordinate between the director, cast, crew, and production team. The role requires calling cues, running the lighting board, maintaining schedules, and ensuring backstage operations run smoothly and safely.

Qualifications

• Previous stage management experience in theatre preferred.
• Ability to work evenings and weekends as required by the production schedule.
• Experience calling technical cues is preferred.
• Passion for live theatre and collaborative storytelling.

Responsibilities

• Attend and manage all scheduled rehearsals and performances for assigned productions.
• Create and maintain rehearsal reports, performance reports, and production paperwork.
• Coordinate communication between the director, cast, crew, and production team.
• Maintain the rehearsal schedule and distribute daily updates as needed.
• Record blocking, cues, and production notes during rehearsals.
• Call lighting, sound, set, and other technical cues during performances.
• Run the lighting board during performances.
• Ensure backstage operations run smoothly and safely during performances.
• Coordinate with technical staff on scene shifts, props, and backstage logistics.
• Assist with maintaining a positive, professional, and supportive rehearsal environment.
• Help enforce theatre policies and safety procedures throughout the production process.
